Two thousand fourteen is upon us and we now count down the days until summer returns. Hopefully it passes fast! So, the website. We’re going good. The peak of the forums was pretty much around the console launches. The forums were getting hit pretty hard on a daily basis but it ran smoothly with nary a hiccup. I was happy about that. With the console launches behind us the forums have gotten back to a ‘normal’ level. Not much is happening in the video game world so the news is slow at the moment. As the next wave of next gen titles gear up for launch the site will get more hectic. We’re on a pretty stable virtual server right now and it’s served us very well. Other than the actual transition to the virtual server, the site has been running strong.

What’s in store for UnionVGF going forward? I’m looking at a new theme that is the best I’ve seen thus far. It’s stylish and more feature rich than the current themes. If it works as I want it to it will become the new forum standard. After I’m done testing it I’ll put it up. Not sure when that will be. It will just appear. The site is due for an update but I’m not done testing it out yet to make sure the transition to the update runs smoothly. There will be a few other additions made to the site through out the year. I test a lot of additions out but if they don’t run smooth or add to the site I don’t use them. There also may be another forum category added in the future. The mods and I have discussed it and I’m still toying with the idea and figuring out the best way to employ it if I decided to run with it. It’s not a guarantee so I’m gonna keep it under wraps right now.

We’re currently at exactly 850 members and no spammers… though they do try to register. I like being able to approve each member individually. That far exceeded my expectations. I thought we would get maybe 200 members at most. To be at 850 members is pretty cool. The counter for posts is just over 91,000, it’s actually over 96,000 with deleted posts, and over 2,100 threads. We’ve had 34,400 visitors since October 16th and 1,500,000 page views. The average visit length has dropped a couple minutes but it’s still averaging 13+ minutes per visit. Not much to compare it to but I like the look of the numbers overall.

As always, my door is always open. If there’s anything you would like to see on the site shoot me a PM. Ideas from the community members is always encouraged and helps the site grow. Thanks everyone for being a part of the site. It couldn’t be possible without all of you. I really do appreciate it and thanks for being a part of our community!

I don't know very much about site metrics, but those seem pretty good to me for a site like this. And I have to agree with your statement about very few hiccups. This site is incredibly smooth.

5000 deleted posts! Lol

Good stuff though. I'm glad the site is moving in the right direction.

Do you think we can get a more bad-ass name for our Forums at some point?

Anyways, thanks for the hard work that was put into this last year & getting this place up & running. I was hesitant about coming over originally, but I'm glad I did as TeamXbox just completely died.

5000 deleted posts! Lol

Lol, I think some of that is me, and it makes it look like we're deleting a ton of posts (about 5%), so I'd better clarify. For a while, I thought that having large threads around, even if they were locked, was a drag on the server. So, I would go around and delete old, locked threads, thinking I was cleaning up the place, helping out, reducing server traffic somehow. Yeah, I'm not the most tech savvy guy. Some pretty big threads got deleted. For example, the Tickle Fight thread, which probably had one or two thousand posts in it -- deleted the whole thing. Same with several other big threads that got locked. Deleted wholesale.

So blame that high number on the noob mod. It doesn't accurately represent the percentage of posts that are individually deleted. That percentage is much lower -- about 0.3%, if my math is right (I'd estimate we delete about two or three posts a day on average, and there are an average of 842 posts per day (96K posts over 114 days), so that works out to 0.3%).

Good stuff Plainview, you and the mods do a great job. Thanks for the cool hang out spot.

Don't you dare burst my bubble with your factual explanation. It was 5000 individual posts cos Nazi modz rulez.

These forums are faster, have more features, wider images, and nicer notifications. It is a worthy successor to TXB.

This is very true! Anyway, thanks Plainview for giving us a great place to come to and talk about games. Definitely is a worthy successor to TXB. I joined that forum not long before the Xbox 360 launch and it was nice being on this site when the Xbox One launched! Looking forward to the updates and seeing how this site grows!

It is pretty impressive what this site has been able to accomplish in such a short time. 2014 should be great.

Good stuff, statistics look great but most importantly regardless the TXB faithful are here and are not going anywhere, this place is just the same which is the goal I know without all the BOTS!

Once again thank you PV!

I like the site and intend on staying in the OTL, but I'd welcome an updated layout/theme. Something about the layout puts me off a bit and I'm not sure what it is. I think it's something to do with the way the threads are displayed within the individual forums, but I can't be sure.

Either way, it's been a successful transition and a job well done.

It's really nice to have a site to come to that's so clean, teamxbox (RIP) was becoming such a huge mess with all of the spam.

You DO delete a ton of posts. I've never been on a forum that deleted anythig but porn. Any time someone whispers the name of a competing console in a thread you delete the posts Anderson.

Or you close the thread. Usually the most active thread on the forum.

I've never had my time wasted more on a forum typing up posts only to has the thread closed or the post I'm responding to deleted.

Honestly who had EVER been on a forum that deleted anything but porn?

OMG someone mentioned Xbox in a thread about Sony! Hide yo posts Anderson is coming!
