Your moms room

Came across this while doing research and thought i'd share. One important l;lesson to take away from this that might one day save your life. if you're ever in trouble rather than doing general pleas for help; pick one person out and focus on them -"hey you in the white shirt and blue jeans, help me", rather then won't someone help me"- research found that doing so yields far great results..

When i first read about this it didn't seam to harsh, but to see it in action... f***..... The only one that made sense to me was the drunk guy, i've seen bums passed out all the time, no biggie. But to sit there and read a paper while some lady is passed out next to you, or to walk past as a man moans for help.....

Yeah, social norms are really powerful. Zimbardo (the evil-looking but actually good guy introducing the video) is famous for his Stanford Prison experiments, where he showed that people essentially become evil when the conditions are right (that's an oversimplification, but it'll do for a game forum).

No doubt there's some bystander effect no matter what, but also the surroundings and helpless person involved will play a factor.

While the video shows some women needing help and people walking by, no doubt that they would get more help than if it was a shabby bum on the street passed out.

If I ever see anything like this happen in Public I'm going to assume I'm getting trolled and look for the hidden Cameras.

Same. I feel like for the most part that stuff just doesn't happen in an average day. There are too many hidden camera things on TV/Youtube now a days anyway that if this truly did happen it'd be a "cried wolf" effect most likely.

I am so happy i'm not the only one that thought he looked super evil, he is the face of would think of when pondering what a mad scientist would look like. Have you ever seen the real videos from the prison experiment? my God it was enlightening, it made me believe a lot more of those reports i read about guards screwing over inmates.

lol, yeah he's actually a very nice guy, but you wouldn't think that, from looking at him. He looks like he'd eat your children. And yeah, I've seen some of the prison experiments.

Here's his TED talk on his research. I thought it was really interesting. Warning: graphic images.
