The countries X1 hasn't released in yet could be in for a LONG wait

I almost cried today :( ... i was num 200 on the pre-order list here @ the local mediamarkt for the PS4 i just missed the second batch wich is gettin sold friday. Now i have to wait till the first week of Jan .... oh well guess ill just have to wait :(

Mediamarkt, so you are either from Holland or Germany, right? :)
 
Its gotta be a nightmare for some countries with multilingual regions. Belgium,for example,the south speaks French and the North speaks Flemish (which is like the most inaccessible European language after Basque). Cant really blame MS too much if it gets delayed.

And then you also have cases like the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. We all speak English. Republic of Ireland got no voice support, but Northern Ireland did. Very bizarre.

Sorry but i will blame MS bigtime if it does turn out to be true. The majority of Xbox One buyers, i am sure don't really need Dutch voice support. I bet the majority would be fine with English. I honestly don't believe it's a localisation issue, not at all.
 
Im fed up with this ms bullshxx.

after so many years of being a diehard xbox fan, ennough is enough. Sony wins. Ive already cancelled my gold accoung and bought a ps4.
 
Im sure you will be happy, the ps4 is a nice machine. I will be getting one eventually.

It sucks but it's not the end of the world.. it'll be january before you know it. Mediamarkt Amsterdam?
 
Yeah, Amsterdam here. Planning to get both eventually. X1 first then PS4.

I really hope the gaming industry changes its localization policies sooner than later. It has always been a constant thorn in our side in Europe. At least this upcoming generation of games we can opt to simply import them. It's gonna be good..

I cancelled my gold last month. I have yet to decide which to get.

I mention before that I am deciding between Covette C7, Xbox one or PS4. With Chevy redrawing from Europe in the near future, at least my options are narrowed.

I have the Xbox One and I'm not planning to buy the PS4 in the near future.

I cancelled my order for the X1 at a dutch webretailer right after the news that The Netherlands wouldn't be a part of the launch and I placed an order at Amazon right after Microsoft announced that the X1 and games would be region free. Hearing this news (although not confirmed yet) I'm glad I did.
 
Ms should get out 2 free games for those countries that are delayed, for those preorder, otherwise, they risk losing even more sales to Sony.

I agree. It would be a nice gesture to the fans they have in those countries.

They could do a Ryse or Forza bundle + a free game of choice. It would sell well. If it turns out to be march launch they could actually do a Titanfall bundle + free game.

It's pretty obvious MS is pushing as much supply as possible into the larger markets like NA. We'll see if that strategy pays off for them in the long term.

Actually, I do not live so far from you. I live in a small town, & work in another small town about 70km North of Frankfurt.

Remember i said that Microsoft Holland could simply refuse to help you with a faulty X1, because the console isn't officially released here? They have fully opened their services now, so if you have imported a X1 from Germany, France or Italy or wherever and you are from Holland...the above link is what you need. This means i can import a Xbox One no problem and with no worries about how warranty will be handled. I am not yet in a hurry to import a Xbox One, first i want to see if MS announces that delay for Holland too. But if it releases in March, i can wait until then. But if they keep silent and don't say anything...i'll import. But it's fantastic news either way, cause there's definitely a chance it will get delayed here and i can just import then with no worries.

The site basically says

Console repairs are available without any costs via the standard warranty expiration date february 17, 2016. From now to feb 17, 2016 faulty hardware will be replaced without any additional costs.

Basically it will be exactly how warranty for 360 was handled. A company picks your console up from your address, no costs, and they bring it back to you as well, no costs.

If that news about the xbox one launch in scandinavian countries is true, then it might even be further down the line that the console sees a launch anywhere in asia, probably not even in 2014. By that time, those who were interested in getting a xbox one originally would have lost interest and settled with a playstation. Some people do import from one of the launch countries but it is also true that the majority do not want to go through the hassle of importing from abroad. And the the concern of the OP about the warranty is valid. Microsoft is under no obligation to honor warranty if you bought the product from abroad and not from your region's microsoft subsidiary, it's at their discretion. And that would apply to basically any MNC.

Nice. At least it's a bit more piece of mind for you. On a slightly different topic, I had reset my console to to local region last night because the prepaid card i bought to add money to my XBL account was in Euros whereas my console was expecting Sterling given it thought it was in the UK. No biggie really expect having to use it without voice control for a few hours, which sucked WAY more than I thought it would.
 
Our Amercian friends comments how the rest of the world like Sony PS brand more than MS. This is why people!

Ms bet to put moat of their eggs in their home turf better pay off, as the chance of them becoming leader is rest of the world is pretty slim with this kind of launch.

if I am from tehse regions affected, & on the fence, on which to buy, MS certainly made the decision much easier for me.

People will remember you do not give a damn about them, & people will choose your competition!

It really sucks for the affected countries, but there is no word about Holland, Belgium etc there, so that seems to be good news and i won't have to import one then. Still some clarity on this finally from MS wouldn't be a bad thing.

Germany Amazon site seems to have Xbox one stock readily available. Check in afternoon, & a while ago, (both time about 20+ stock for standard edition) if you guys are interested.
