I live in western New York State right by the Canadian border and I still hear people talking about Latino immigrants stealing jobs. It is laughable way up here. The only people we have crossing the border are drunken Maple Leaf hockey fans.

Oh, for Leaf fans, just paint a picture of the Cup near the town and you can be sure they'll never come close to it, though they'll tell each other that this is the year and spin yarns of how great it used to be.

Does anyone have more info on anything to do with young girls being under reported in the children separated at the border? I've seen a couple comments on on Reddit threads and from Daily Kos on Facebook which isn't the greatest of sources. They had a picture of young girls being taken away in the dead of night as well. I can't find the post now but someone mentioned owners of a couple of the detention centers have donated to Texas senators, of both parties actually. And one of these companies was found to traffic humans in foreign companies. Grain of salt as I didn't dig into the articles more.

Also good place for legit discussion. There is also The_Mueller that is more of a s***post subreddit.

Really, best case scenario for her at this point, is if she pulls a Lorena Bobbit on him and gets deported.

Also, I read somewhere that the new order let's USA detain families indefinitely, as opposed to the original 30 days? Um... Isn't that a tad worse?

Trump campaign data operation had stolen Clinton emails ‘more than a month’ before WikiLeaks: bombshell report

The company that ran then-candidate Donald Trump’s data operation in 2016 reportedly obtained Hillary Clinton’s stolen emails more than a month before WikiLeaks published them.

In a column for the British magazine Spectator, BBC correspondent Paul Wood revealed that Cambridge Analytica, the now-defunct company which was in charge of microtargeting voters for the Trump campaign, was in possession of Clinton’s emails at least a month before WikiLeaks was known to have them.

“The (now shuttered) British company did the Trump campaign’s data,” Wood explained. “Its speciality was ‘microtargeting’: individual messages tailored to individual voters, delivered by email, Facebook and Twitter.”

“The US intelligence agencies believe that Russian internet ‘troll factories’ were also pushing out pro-Trump propaganda on social media: sometimes fake news, sometimes real news, such as the hacked contents of Clinton’s emails,” he continued. “The question is whether this was done in coordination with the Trump campaign."

Wood said that he had information from an “American lawyer” who knew that Cambridge Analytica was in possession of the emails, which U.S. intelligence agencies later determined were stolen by Russian hackers.

Not sure if legit yet but I think we've earned the right to dream at this point.

6 months in, GOP tax bill an utter flop​

While stumping for his tax plan, President Trump claimed cutting taxes for big corporations would result in an average pay raise of $4,000 for working families.​

​

Well, the tax bill slashed the corporate tax rate by over 40 percent and handed multinational corporations a $400 billion tax discount on their accumulated offshore profits, but what was the result?​

​

Working people are still waiting for their $4,000 raise. Average hourly wages have actually gone down slightly, after adjusting for inflation, since the tax bill passed.​

​

So where did all the money go? Corporations are not reinvesting their tax windfall; they are paying that money out in the form of stock buybacks and dividends.​

​

Stock buybacks boost stock prices and CEO pay in the short term, making the rich even richer, but most financial analysts say the money that could be put to better use investing in the long-term success of the company.​

​

The rest of the tax windfall from the new law — individual tax cuts — is also flowing into the pockets of corporate CEOs and other millionaires. Once fully phased in, 83 percent of the tax cuts in the new law will go to the richest 1 percent.​

​

Republicans claimed their tax plan would put a stop to outsourcing, but the opposite is true. When it comes to outsourcing, the tax law is job killer. The base tax rate for profits from outsourced jobs is zero. The best case is foreign profits would be taxed at half the rate as domestic profits.​

​

It's that simple — the Trump-GOP tax law taxes corporations that create jobs in the U.S. and subsidizes corporations' outsourcing of operations and jobs offshore. Republicans also claimed the new law would stop corporations from hiding profits and shifting jobs offshore, but profit shifting will pretty much continue as before.​

​

Motorcycle icon Harley-Davidson offers a good example of how American corporations are taking advantage of their tax windfall. The tax benefit to Harley-Davidson — a profitable company with $800 million to $1 billion in pre-tax profits — appears to have provided the capital to fund a plan to outsource U.S. jobs.​

​

Following passage of the tax bill, the company announced the layoff of 800 workers at a plant in Kansas City, the opening of a new factory in Thailand and a plan to buy back 15 million shares currently valued at $700 million.​

​

The total cost of the GOP tax boondoggle is $1.9 to $2.3 trillion. Right on cue, Republicans are now trying to push through drastic cuts in Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and public education to make up for the lost tax revenue.​
