In all seriousness, hopefully this forces the "Grand old party" to finally dump a lot of this racist, dated dogma and actually turn into a modern, conservative party.

Unfortunately too much of the GOP puts loyalty over morality so they've been far too quiet in letting this cancer take over their party.

Either that or the libertarian party needs to get a seat at the table. I think what many people want is a libertarian party that focuses on actually getting government less involved with our day to day lives and actually cutting gov't spending in ways that makes sense.

Does the corruption ever stop? Let's nominate someone to the EPA that hates the EPA. Let's nominate someone who is in the drug company's pockets as the person to oversee prescription drugs.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/17/politics/trump-tweet-marino-drug-czar/index.html

Washington (CNN) President Donald Trump tweeted Tuesday that Rep. Tom Marino, a Pennsylvania Republican, has withdrawn his name from consideration to become the nation's next drug czar.

"Rep. Tom Marino has informed me that he is withdrawing his name from consideration as drug czar," Trump tweeted. "Tom is a fine man and a great Congressman!"

The congressman's withdrawal comes after a joint CBS "60 Minutes" and Washington Post report revealed that Marino took nearly $100,000 from the pharmaceutical lobby while sponsoring a bill that made it easier for drug companies to distribute opioids across American communities and thwart the Drug Enforcement Agency.

Trump spoke with radio host Brian Kilmeade following Marino's decision.

"He told me, look, if there is even a perception that he has a conflict of interest with insurance companies, essentially, but if there is even a perception of a conflict of interest, he doesn't want anything to do with it," Trump said.

I'm concerned that parties like that are continuing to fail to unite behind a solid message. I spend time with a group supporting Ron Paul and Libertarians absolutely love to constantly argue with each other. Also bizarrely, some Libertarians are essentially Anarchists.

What I would like to see is somehow a party that could mesh the best of both the Libertarians and Greens together. Almost a mix of Ralph Nader and Ron Paul if that is possible. I do think they have strong common ground in Foreign Policy or Defense Spending.

Yeah, that's the problem exactly. You have people like Bill Weld (ran for VP with Gary Johnson) who's basically a Reagan era Republican who doesn't like where the GOP is going (for good reason obviously). Then you have the more serious libertarians who really want the federal government to basically do nothing. Two very, very different things...

‘A Soulless Coward’: Coach Gregg Popovich Responds to Trump
In an exclusive here at The Nation, the Spurs coach speaks about Trump’s latest outrage.

“I’ve been amazed and disappointed by so much of what this president had said, and his approach to running this country, which seems to be one of just a never ending divisiveness. But his comments today about those who have lost loved ones in times of war and his lies that previous presidents Obama and Bush never contacted their families are so beyond the pale, I almost don’t have the words.”

At this point, Coach Pop paused, and I thought for a moment that perhaps he didn’t have the words and the conversation would end. Then he took a breath and said:

“This man in the Oval Office is a soulless coward who thinks that he can only become large by belittling others. This has of course been a common practice of his, but to do it in this manner—and to lie about how previous presidents responded to the deaths of soldiers—is as low as it gets. We have a pathological liar in the White House, unfit intellectually, emotionally, and psychologically to hold this office, and the whole world knows it, especially those around him every day. The people who work with this president should be ashamed, because they know better than anyone just how unfit he is, and yet they choose to do nothing about it. This is their shame most of all.”

I love this new Pop.

I thought that we need to respect the flag and the military? I hope this story is true, but I also hope it isn't because this is as scummy as one can get. It won't matter to his racist base though.

http://edition.cnn.com/2017/10/17/politics/frederica-wilson-widow-fallen-soldier/index.html

The call from the President to Johnson's widow came shortly before Johnson's casket arrival, Wilson, a Florida Democrat, said on "CNN Tonight with Don Lemon" Tuesday.

"Basically he said, 'Well, I guess he knew what he signed up for, but I guess it still hurt,' " Wilson said, adding that she listened to part of the call on speaker phone while in a vehicle with the family.

"That's what he said," she added.

Asked earlier if she was sure the President said that, Wilson told CNN affiliate WPLG: "Yeah, he said that. You know, ... that is something that you can say in a conversation, but you shouldn't say that to a grieving widow. Everyone knows when you go to war you could possibly not come back alive, but you don't remind a grieving widow of that. That is so insensitive. So insensitive."

A White House official said Tuesday, "The President's conversations with the families of American heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice are private."

Trump takes credit for ISIS 'giving up'

President Donald Trump took credit for the fact that ISIS is in retreat during an interview Tuesday, claiming that ISIS wasn't on the run before because "you didn't have Trump as your president."

The comment comes as US-backed forces fighting ISIS in Raqqa said "major military operations" in the city have ended and that the jihadists have lost control of their self-declared capital.

American officials have not yet formally announced that the fight is won, but the development marks a significant moment for the war on ISIS.

"I totally changed rules of engagement. I totally changed our military, I totally changed the attitudes of the military and they have done a fantastic job," Trump said on "The Chris Plante Show." "ISIS is now giving up, they are giving up, there are raising their hands, they are walking off. Nobody has ever seen that before."

When Plante asked why that hadn't happened before, Trump took the bait.

"Because you didn't have Trump as your president," he said. "It was a big difference, there was a big, big difference if you look at the military now."

That's funny but an unfortunate truth. Oppose Trump and you're instantly labeled a liberal and an enemy. The problem is that the alt right has vilified the left into this fictional threat. To them, there's no such thing as a "conservative" who doesn't support Trump.

That is what is so dangerous about the alt right. Every stupid thing Trump says is a test of loyalty. Stand by our naked emperor and pretend that his clothes really are invisible or get labeled an enemy.

Couldn't remember the soldier's name and made the widow bring down in tears instead of comforting her. f***ing orange s*** stain.

The mother of the solider also backed this story up while the oompa loompa denies it.

In June the slob says he’s going to send $25,000 to the family of a soldier who died. Family never got anything. Story published yesterday saying nothing was sent. Slob claims he absolutely did send check. Check was sent today, after the story came out.

And people still support this disrespectful, pathological lying piece of s***?

Gee, empathy is not his strong suit. Typical for a narcissist, though, especially one with a bruised ego.

Looking at the soldiers that were lost in Niger, one of them doesn't look like the others. I don't think it's a coincidence that the orange s*** stain didn't know the soldier's name and said some reprehensible things to the family of the 'different' one.

Saw this quote from The Witches of Eastwick. How fitting it is.....

You are physically repulsive, intellectually r******d, you're morally reprehensible, vulgar, insensitive, selfish, stupid, you have no taste, a lousy sense of humour and you smell. You're not even interesting enough to make me sick.

Just be glad they didn't ask him to pronounce the name of the Niger

Can we now start the paperwork for him being unfit for office now?

http://edition.cnn.com/2017/10/19/politics/donald-trump-conspiracy-dossier/index.html

President Donald Trump sent this tweet on Thursday morning: "Workers of firm involved with the discredited and Fake Dossier take the 5th. Who paid for it, Russia, the FBI or the Dems (or all)?"

This is, of course, somewhat common fare by this point in the arc of Trump's presidency. Faced this week with storylines he doesn't like -- questions about the Niger attack, controversy over a phone call he placed to the widow of one of the soldiers lost in that attack, Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Capitol Hill facing questions about Russian meddling in the election -- he aims to change the subject via his Twitter feed. And he often does so by lobbing out a conspiracy theory with only the loosest ties to the factual world.

But even by Trump standards, this morning's tweet is somewhat remarkable. He is suggesting that a dossier prepared by a former member of British intelligence has not only been totally discredited (it hasn't -- more on that in a minute) but that it might have been funded by some combination of Russia, the Democratic Party and, wait for it, the FBI!

Overall thread is about Trump Jr and Conway sharing Russian propaganda. I think this might have been brought to surface already but this guy's list of events are pretty interesting.
