The Last Guardian's Trademark Filed a Third Time

Earlier this year, we reported that Sony had abandoned the trademark for The Last Guardian. At the time, the company said that it would be following up with that trademark. As of March 12, a new trademark for a Last Guardian game has been filed, and it is currently pending approval according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (via NeoGaf).

The game has been in development for the better part of a decade. Despite rumors of cancellation, Sony told GameSpot last month that it "can confirm that the Last Guardian is still in development."

Last year, director Fumito Ueda

said Team Ico
was "making progress under completely new conditions." There's still been no word on what exactly Ueda meant by "new conditions," but it comes after repeated claims that the game is making "slow progress" and that Sony is "reengineering
" the project.

I'm not sure but I think Andy already reported the news. I think many people have already lost hope in The Last Gaurdian. By the time it releases the gameplay may feel outdated or no one will care. They should get a team on it asap while a few people are still interested. Now is a good time to release it on PS4 with updated graphics and new gameplay footage.

I'm not sure. I don't think this is the type of game that needs cutting-edge graphics and the latest gameplay to be successful. Ico and Shadow of the Colossus were unique little masterpieces that didn't depend on those things. They were fairly old gameplay styles, but refined, made artistic, given a unique atmosphere. I think these games stand on their own in a way other games do not. So I'm not sure they need to rush it (I guess there's no danger of that!). I think it'll be well received, no matter when it comes out, even if the graphics and gameplay are a bit outdated.

Sony should give the game to an indie dev to work on. Make it a $20 downloadable 2D platformer.

They should do a trailer of the old footage running 1080p/60fps and make it shinier. Minds blown, year of the PS incoming!
