The Nintendo Switch

I see; it is all so clear now.

It's pretty obvious from the size. Xbox One S and PS4 slim whilst small, are not by any means tablet sized. It's not even close. Switch hardware capabilites will alway be echelons behind if it's locked into tablet form.

If this is true, who's in?

I think it's a somewhat reasonable price....for a handheld. The 3DS was $250 in late 2010 and Nintendo had to cut it to $200 in less than 6 months. That was nearly 6 years ago and phablets have only encroached moreso on the handheld market in that time. It's got an even more uphill battle.

It's an uncompetitive price for a console which is underpowered, millions of units behind in userbase with a library 1000 games behind from a company that follows the unmitigated disaster that was the Wii U.

Nintendo Switch... Because the Wii U didn't fail for being an overpriced tablet. We need more tablet!

They should rename the Wii U to Nintendo Bait. Now put 'em together and it makes sense - wa la!

You know the console is in trouble when a company like EA (who makes tons of games for Xbox, PS and PC), promotes the fact "one of their big franchises" is coming to Switch.

All other platfiorms listed above get just about every game as default.

But hey, EA released Mass Effect on Wii U. After that game, all their other key franchises never showed up. So maybe it's true. One and done.

Switch is getting Mass Effect to round out the retro rage!

Will get a fifa. ... port of the 360/ps3 version

People have always wanted a main series Pokemon game on a home console. Well...

Nintendo has realized their 3DS system sales are tailing off, so instead of supporting a two pronged approach to games, where the handhelds get Pokemon and the console gets traditional Mario and Zelda games, they are now consolidating efforts into Switch. As soon as 3DS entirely fizzles out in a few years, Switch will Nintendo's main focus with a small smattering of android/mobile software.

Unless Ninty starts to develop Apple/Android mobile games fast, they will be going all or nothing on Switch very soon.

Thought Nintendo said no?

Well technically there is no "hardware" in the base that improves performance. Maybe the portable unit has a variable clock speed on the CPU/GPU that's voltage dependent. When it's running on the internal power supply it ramps down, external through the base it "overclocks" it...

That would be pretty cool actually. I'll use my in the dock 95% of the time so GIVE ME THE POWER I BEG OF YOU!

Eh, it's just clear the system underclocks when away from a power source to give it as much battery life as possible and simply doesn't when plugged in.
