The Official E3 2017 Thread

Argh. Talk about Soulsbourne inspired me to play Bloodbourne tonight. I felt like every death was a camera death because I'm so used to controlling camera at the same time as sprinting and rolling in DS3. I have no idea how you guys beat this game without memorizing the landscape well enough to always know what's behind you.

#1 wish for me from PlayStation at E3 is a customizable controller with paddles. I'll want it for God of War as well.

12 new multiplats is too many for a conference that lasts 90 minutes long.

Yeah last year MS showed off 17 games altogether (not including montages). I would expect less this year with some time being taken up to show off Scorpio, new platform features, Elite Controller v. 2 and talk about Game Pass.

I'd expect about 14 to 15 games. 6 will be Crackdown, Sea of Thieves, Forza 4, State of Decay 2, Assasins Creed and Shadow of War. That leaves room for about 7 or 8 games including multiplats and any other exclusives. Less if they take time to talk Halo or Gears DLC.

Microsoft won’t be demonstrating Xbox VR at E3 as it shifts focus to wireless headsets

Microsoft has said before that it plans to support mixed reality headsets on Xbox One and the upcoming Project Scorpio console in 2018, but the company won’t even be teasing its VR plans at E3 this year. In an interview with Polygon, Microsoft technical fellow Alex Kipman says Microsoft is focused solely on mixed reality for Windows 10 PCs at the moment.

“We believe that right now a Windows PC is the best platform for mixed reality as its open ecosystem and enormous installed base offer the best opportunity for developers, and Windows offers the most choices for consumers,” explains Kipman. “Windows has been the birthplace of a variety of technologies, and we believe this will hold for mixed reality too. Given the efforts we have underway on Windows for mixed reality, and our belief that console VR should be wireless, right now we are focused on developing mixed reality experiences for the PC, not on the console.”

Kipman’s hint of a wireless headset for Xbox console gaming suggests that Microsoft is holding off on bringing its planned mixed reality headsets to its gaming console. Dell, Lenovo, HP, Asus, and Acer are all planning to release mixed reality devices later this year, but these all need to be tethered to a Windows 10 PC. When Microsoft first unveiled Project Scorpio, Xbox chief Phil Spencer saidthe console would be “built with the hardware capabilities to support the high-end VR that you see happening in the PC space today.” Microsoft’s mixed messages don’t provide much hope for VR on Xbox any time soon, and the company refused to clarify to Polygonwhether its plans for wireless headsets would impact the 2018 promise for mixed reality headsets on Xbox One.

^great news if true. They learned from Kinect and PSVR.

Interesting. I thought I'd heard it was going to be there. I was thinking maybe Fallout VR (or MR -- an unfortunate abbreviation) would be on stage.

Good. Don't demo VR until it's more suitable for the masses. I like that they want wireless solutions first.

If true, I think the sub 4% attach rate with the PSVR has slowed their roll on it. It's disappointing to me though as I was hoping for surprise Oculus support.

Roomscale over wireless. I don't even know I have it wired while wearing it the way I have it setup, wireless VR is about as cool as a wireless controller, needed, but not the absolute feature like roomscale.

Any idea if Ken Levines (Bioshock) next game will be shown off at E3? For the past four years he's been working on a single player game that's supposed to be highly replayable. We got to see something right?!

I play on PC and PS4 without paddles.

Interesting that MS not bothering with VR as Sony is definitely going to show some new titles for PSVR.

Give me it

That's been debunked. They couldn't get the orchestra in for a live performance of the music, so they're going to have pewdiepie play and comment on Knack 2 for 10 minutes, then have him comment on his commenting about Knack 2 for 10 minutes, and then comment on his commentary about his commenting on Knack 2 for 10 minutes.

I need control of my camera at all times regardless of what else I'm doing. Eliminating face buttons from all my games has made gaming controls feel like they evolved this gen. Offset sticks, trigger locks and customizability are also nice.

Elite controller is my #1 factor in multiplats.

Thread needs 2 be closed until Sat...

Threads need to be closed until E3. It sucks coming back after a weekend of not posting and trying to keep up. Good thing i don't post at GAF. Don't you people go outside?

I don't know, just over the rumors and all that. Sunday needs to come. Now.

I'm hoping so but at the same time we've heard that before from all companies.
