Art has always fascinated me. Ever since I was young, I would find myself looking at photographs, loving how the lighting in movies created drama, how detailed the great paintings were, everything about art. It comes as no surprise that I found the work of Marinko Milosevski amazing. He’s combined two of my life long passions, art and videogames, and put a retro spin on them.
Milosevski’s video game movie poster series is unlike video game art series I’ve seen. He absolutely nailed the retro look along with capturing the essence of what the games are. These aren’t simple drawings. There’s thought behind every element in the designs. If you’re a fan of the game you’ll love looking at all of the nuances of each piece. When art makes you think, I’m not talking about making you contemplate life, but, when you have to look at all of its elements because it continues to tell a story, is when art is at its best.
While video game booklet art is a thing of the past, I really do miss reading those booklets in the game cases, we still get amazing game art every so often. Hopefully some major publisher gets wind of Marinko Milosevski’s art. He has the talent to do some amazing collections. Imagine if Nintendo hired him to do work for a book about the history of Mario or Zelda? Those could end up being one of the best video game art books of all time.
Marinko Milosevski's artwork is for sale here. If you're a videogame nut, some of these framed on your wall will look amazing in your man, or woman, cave!
