I had no desire to see the first one, this looks pretty fun even if Cena is terrible in the trailer (and probably in the movie, he can't act) I will be watching it at some point.
Kinda weird that it's Sylvester Stallone as the King Shark, for whatever reason. Never heard the cartoon one.

Saw this on HBO Max. I thought it was good and entertaining. Don't know if I'd call it great, but I would recommend it (don't want to sound negative about it, just sometimes these things get over-hyped). It is a fun 2 hours and is more of what the 1st one should have been. For people who hate Cena (especially with his recent China nonsense), don't let that stop you. He works well in the role he plays. The acting was great all around. Each character has their part to play without it being long and drawn out.
Thought it was great. Would smash again.
The movie won't even break $30 million this weekend. Godzilla vs Kong, which also debuted simultaneously on HBO Max and theaters, did much better with $48.5 million for comparison. For its first weekend, SS is on par with Birds of Prey moneywise but SS has roughly double the budget.
Pandemic aside, I think the first SS has played a huge role in why the second film is performing poorly despite having much more favorable reviews.

Maybe.. maybe not better to wait and see. Not the first time a film has appeared to have a show start only for the final weekend numbers to be positive.
It might also be suffering due to the original leaving a sour taste in a lot of people's minds but shall have to wait and see. Everything's still struggling in cinemas right now
