Well, you can only blame MS for its oversight in naming, like its many obvious oversights, like battery life indicator, Hard disk space left indication, & probably underestimate its rival eventual hardware.

Can someone educate me with the display settings, I have an LG 1080p (pretty recent) tv, I've got my xbox display set to Colour depth - 36 bits per pixel and the colour space PC (RGB full); it displays fine, are these the optimal settings or am I missing the bigger picture?

EDIT:

I've worked this out RGB full makes the shadow completely black (too black).

Not sure why but RBG FULL = crushed blacks for me as well.

The pains of being the early adopter. Good thing I anticipated an unfinished product when I bought it so early on.

What's the benefit of color depth at 36 bits? Does this translate to a discernible difference? Is there any performance or other penalty?

Can anyone comment on this? What could a driver update actually do?

http://gamingbolt.com/xbox-one-upco...things-xbox-os-team-best-in-the-world-insider

driver updates can increase (or decrease, though rarely) overall performance of the system without requiring updates to the applications and games on the system .... Most likely MS released"basic" or "beta" versions of their drivers for the X1 just to get the system out and stabilized...

odds are that many drivers and portions of the OS sub-system are most likely configured in a "debug" mode in order to log/capture data related to any individual system crashes,etc...

after a few updates from MS - I expect we'll see an overall faster system by this time next year... As well as significantly better looking games as devs tailor their code and engines to the new platforms...

I am amazed at just how close in power the X1 is compared to it's competitor. So much closer than last gen, it's crazy.

I think the colours look better, richer...of course this could all be subjective lol, just keep switching between the two and then go back into your game and see if you can see any difference.

Use limited setting (will look washed out) and do a calibration using the Xbox calibration tool. My settings changed considerably to get the image quality my set had previous to x1

I had to send in one of my kid's power cord and MS is saying they havent received it even though tracking shows it delivered on the 28th

Yeah MS is cheap as &*%$. Apple will send a prepaid box to you or let you drop off your device at the UPS store and no cost to you but not poor little MS. Times are rough being a small mom and pop company, how do they survive? They are escalating my case

Those Christmas bonuses are going out right now. MS needs to limit spending.

LOL...oh it costs you....you paid for it in your overpriced Apple device. We pay a premium for their products for a reason. And I own countless Apple products.

I dont pay a premium because all my devices were bought used and Apple honors warranties even on used products. No way in hell will I pay retail or close to it for an ipod/ipad/mac. Speaking of premiums, I would say I paid a premium for not only one but two Xbox One's, where is that stellar support at?

I have to say I got great support from MS when I did an advanced console exchange. They held my hand the entire time and were very pleasant to work with.

I have never had an issue with a warranty on a used product from any manufacturer.

I thought the Xbox was sold at a loss? If not, hardly a premium.

Happy new year all

Ok MS, it's 2014 now. Please just say something, anything about the release in the other countries. Is it delayed till late 2014? Ok...but at least i'll know and i can import it. But i hope not, cause with my order in my country i get two games with it. It's getting rather ridiculous now MS.

I have mention before, why have xbox stacking up in stalls, which is happening now in Germany, & probably many other nations as well, & not distribute some of these supplies to otehr nations.

I am sure people can wait a while for the voice controls & such, & the system do not need to ship until these are ready.

Who cares as long as people are having fun! Honestly if someone can't find a X1 today, but really want one. Instead buy a 4 or WiiU do you really think in the next 7 years they won't end up getting an X1?

Yeah it's goddamn odd. They really should come out of hiding sometime soon though and just talk to the customer. I may not have a problem with importing, but i would not be surprised if there's still plenty of people that eventually decide to go for a PS4 instead. Hell i see it on other forums...big Xbox fans 'moving over' to PS4. That's probably not only because of having to import it..but still.

They sold those units to stores.

If the sales are bad enough, the stores will talk to MS about taking some of the units back, maybe then MS can re-allocate, but outside of offering the stores money or otherwise discussing it with them, it's out of MS's hands what happens to units on shelves.

Im going to have to end up getting a One for the living room, both my kids are always on theirs
