Respawn founder and CEO Vince Zampella has confirmedTitanfall 2 is in development and will be released on multiple platforms.

Speaking to IGN ahead of tonight's BAFTA Game Awards, Zampella, whose title is nominated in three categories, acknowledged the game's existence for the first time.

"I guess EA announced a sequel, so I could play coy and pretend I don't know anything about it, or… yeah. So we're working on a sequel. No official name yet, but we're working on that. That's the main focus but we're starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff too. Small, exploratory, taking it slow! It'll be multiplatform."

It seems the decision the broaden the game's horizons in terms of platform was never in doubt. When asked whether or not the team wishes they could change anything about the original product, Respawn COO Dusty Welch said, "Platform for me comes to mind right away." Though Zampella then explained, "Well, we needed that, though. We couldn't do the game," Dusty clarified the exclusivity was always a business decision rather than anything else.

"If we could do it though?" he said. "It would have been prohibitive to do that - we definitely made the right choices for the right reasons - but if you're saying what would we have liked to have done? The opportunity to be multiplatform could have made it even more significant for us.

When it came to what we should expect from the next game in the series, the duo's lips were sealed, but they did promise to expand the lore. As for whether we should expect to see a single-player component, it's still not clear.

"I wouldn't have done it differently," Zampella said when reflecting upon the original's multiplayer-only approach. "We set out to do it and it was one of our goals. I mean it obviously prohibits a certain group of people playing the game, and as content creators you want to get into as many peoples's hands as possible. We put some single-player elements in there though, and tried to mix it up. Maybe we could have mixed things up a bit better because some people blew right by it and didn't even see it because there was so much action happening around it. It's tough, because if you hit people over the head with it it becomes intrusive, and there are people who don't want or care about it. Where does the needle fall? I think it takes a while to figure that out and we haven't figured it out yet."

One thing Zampella was keen to think about changing was the DLC model for the future, citing Evolve's commitment to keeping the community united via free maps for all as the ideal way forward.

"I think that's a fantastic way to do it," he said. "I think having the maps like that in packs, it does split the community and it makes it harder for matchmaking, it's messy. Yeah. I don't know we won't do it again, I can't say that for sure, but the idea would be to do something different."

I just hope they will continue using Azure servers and not crappy EA. Also cross play with PC would be great

This... Using the Azure servers for the xbox version is all I care about . we have a data center here in Virginia , so having a consistent 16 ping to that particular datacenter was money!

Would it be asking too much to have them make the game with no bots?

Hopefully they will add a proper single player mode to the sequel. The multiplayer was amazing at first but only held my attention for about a week. I tend to replay single player games multiple times.

The bots actually were the #1 thing that ruined the game for me. Having bots that could not kill you unless you stood perfectly still in front of them for an hour was pointless.

I wouldn't say it was pointless.

They were their to make people that generally suck at fps feel like they are contributing something at least.

Keep the bots for sure. That was what made the game fun and different. Just have a playlist for those who don't want bots.

My problem is they literally could not kill you unless you set the controller down and walked away. I mean, they could set them to be like the regular bots in COD or even a little easier, but these bots were simply target practice.

When I moved from PC to consoles I had zero skills in FPS games. I played SP games on easy until I got the hang of it.

The main issue was that killing bots helped towards getting your titan, so really the best thing was to flank around and ignore humans and just find a bunch of bots.

I don't buy that nonsense about making the crap players feel better about themselves. if that's the case, have a mode where you just play against bots, like the training mode in the CoD games.

People play mp games, because they're attracted to playing with, and against other people. Making large maps and 50% of the time you're only seeing bots is bad design choice (in my opinion). also in my opinion, if there were no bots, I think this game would have been more popular than what it is.

Although, I must say, PS owners need not worry about bots, because last I heard, the bot's AI was made possible because of the cloud, so surely, we'll only see bots on XB1 and PC (I kid, for those that are overly sensitive).

Match making was SUPER SLOW and the game was full of lag at times.
Felt like COD and yes sir I own the game bought it 2 times in fact.

Uggg, match making was horrible. Waiting in the lobby took too long. It needs to be more like CoD, or how Halo set it up.

Zero lag for me. I can't ever remember anything worth remembering lag wise. Matchmaking was slow. Took too long to get into matches.

I never had any of those issues.

Most people didn't. That is one of the best things about the game. The fast matchmaking (and we thought COD was fast), and how little lag it had compared to games like COD and BF. It is indeed a fine tuned oiled machine.

If they make a playlist just for botless play, that would appease those that didn't like the bots.

Indeed. I think many would gravitate to that mod. maybe even allow for that mod to have more players.

Actually, I think they have a playlist for that right now? Similar to team deathmatch. I thought they added it like a month or two ago.

Titanfall is the most fun I have had this gen or with any shooter in years, bring on part 2. Great news about being multiplatform, more who can play the better
