So you're going through life consuming, consuming, consuming and once in a great while you consume something so pleasant, so beyond expectation, so striking, that you feel you need to share it with the other humans.

In this thread we shine a big fat light on that thing that exceeded our expectation, with the fellow humans that comprise UnionVGF.

1) New Balance 574 Suede Lifestyle shoes

574ClassicColorsUPLOAD._V368003568_.jpg

Call them Dad shoes or whatever. I'm currently on my second pair and two things stand out. For a lifestyle sneaker, they are incredibly comfortable/soft. The midsole is thick, flexible, cushy and the suede upper wraps around your foot like a mitten. They also age incredibly well as they are very resistant to creasing. Also, there's about 30 different color varieties available.

2) Blue Diamond Salt and Vinegar Almonds

k2-_ebe9f3fd-1528-471b-8b36-78bf72e31a41.v1.jpg

I've purchased about 30+ of these very cans over the past year and I have yet to find a bad (stale) batch. Picture your standard dry roasted almond and combine it with the kind of potato chip where you need to lick your fingers every third time you dive your hand into the bag. They're absolutely loaded with salt and vinegar and by no means are they healthy but God Damn are they tasty. There's also about 40 different flavors (Apple Pie, Wasabi and Soy, Chocolate etc..) most of which are good as well. Salt n Vinegar stands out in my opinion.

3) Nautica 3 Pack V Neck T Shirts

$_35.JPG

I'm 6'2" and weight 175 lbs. In high school and college, my nickname on the basketball court was Ghidora, which doesn't make perfect sense but that's neither here nor there. I was and am tall and lanky. Medium undershirts fit me in the arms and shoulders but go to my navel with length. Large undershirts are often long enough but huge up top. These shirts are relatively narrow and relatively long. Plus, they aren't opaque like some other brands of undershirt.

Now have at it! What's amazing and why?!

I recommend tomato juice or V8 for a hangover.

Why is this still a thing?! Good God I remember being 17 years old and being interested in this question. Now it feels like I hear every moron (not talking about you) say something like "Dude, __________ works great for curing a hangover". Hasn't science solved this already? It's still brought up on those hacky morning DJ radio stations from time to time.

I was told, and I assumed this was accurate, that the feeling of a hangover is directly related to dehydration. The cure for dehydration is H20. You drink a bunch of water before you go to bed. You drink a bunch of water as soon as you wake up. The only times I've had a hangover since, is when I couldn't follow these steps.

Why do I get the feeling that I'm going to be hearing people talk about this for the next 50 years of my life?

Am I crazy?!

s*** works. My friend went from 6'1 160 to 205lbs solid muscle by lifting heavy, definitely not a "meathead" either, just solid.

Negative.

I used to be a meat head for a few years. Bulked up to 235lbs (at my heaviest) and could deadlift and bench with the best of them (never could squat all that well) but when you get a little older your views on body building change.

My body naturally wants to be 175lbs. I eat healthy and I exercise five to six days a week. I also don't have any body issues, other than finding clothes that fit me properly so I'm 100% satisfied with where I'm at.

Tacking on 30 or 50 or however many lbs of body weight, even if it is a decent percentage of muscle, isn't healthy and it requires us ectomorphs to devote an inordinate amount of time to doing just that. Eating and preparing 6 and 7 meals a day isn't the most judicious use of time. And you know what they say about time...

My spiritual mentor Adam Corolla often says "If it doesn't get you laid, or doesn't get you paid, then stop doing it."

Yeah I'm the opposite, I'm barely taller than you, but my body wants to stay over 230lbs or else I feel famished constantly. I've been over 300lbs...now that sucked for clothes. Granted I was 18% bf

Dehydration is the headache. Water doesn't help the shaky weak feeling, and upset stomach though. A glass of tomato juice or a V8 has always helped me with feeling weak and sick to my stomach.

Negative. Drinking water alone is not the cure for a hangover. While dehydration is the culprit, it's just as much the extreme loss of electrolytes, digestive track inflammation and a plethora of others. Drinking water in the morning does very little to cure a hangover. Drinking water between drinks does. The day after, one must have a combination of fluids and electrolytes and vitamins and minerals to help curb the effects. That's why a drink like V8 helps Soda Jack.

This can't be right can it? I swear guzzling water when I'm done drinking prevents the headache and upset stomach. I always assumed the shaky and weak feeling was some combination of lack of food and sleep which is rectified rather easily the next day.

Interesting...Now how do we get this information out there so we don't have to hear Mad Mike from 97.7 Hits FM explain to his listeners about his hangover concoction?!

I actually just purchased my first pair of "Old man shoes" from amazon last week and was surprised at how comfortable they were , Made in the U.S.A too.

Double Edged Safety Razor

Switched away from the expensive Gillettes and haven't looked back. Best shaving experience ever and the blades are cheaper.

Done. I can't believe how expensive those s***ty razors have gotten at supermarkets lately.

I have a feeling this thread is ultimately going to cure world hunger.

No joke. How many freakin blades do these companies think we need? I get that they have an R&D department, but good grief enough already.

A few months ago, I started using Private Internet Access VPN service. It's convenient and reasonably priced and I feel like I have extra privacy and security, especially when using mobile devices.

I've been able to install this on my Netbook and then switch on the VPN when using public Wifi. That way someone else on the same wireless LAN shouldn't be able to packet sniff and intercept what I'm doing.

Private Internet Access is even available as an app in the Android Google Play store. So I now have a VPN on my phone and feel like I can access Facebook even on public Wifi without getting hacked.

You can do that by going to the gym 3 times a day for no more than 45 minutes.

Although I respect Zack when it comes to working out, I also think everyone's body is different and so what works for one may not work for another.

If ZACK is charging people money to expend information like he did in post [HASHTAG]#20[/HASHTAG], he needs to be featured on Spike TV's "Catch a Contractor".

That was 100%, unequivocally incorrect. Ectomorphs, endomorphs, and 99.9% of mesomorphs can not walk around with 30 - 50lbs of additional "good weight" merely by working out 3 times a week at 45 minutes a pop. The amount of time and energy required to do just that is exponentially greater. It's not about it working for some people. It's just a totally incorrect statement.

His response of "It's what I do" was rather off-putting as well considering we are bombarded with stories from the news on an hourly basis that illustrate just how incompetent people can be at "what they do".

It's more about how you eat than how you lift. As long as you're doing heavy compound movements (squat, deadlift, bench, some kind of other press (shoulders), and some other kind of pull (upper back)) 3 times a week you can expect to see gains. That goes for absolutely everyone. What kind of gains you'll get do depend on the person but more so on how committed to it they are.

I did just now notice that in the post that sparked this conversation you did mention how cooking/eating all those meals in a day isn't the most judicious use of time. That I can agree with. And that's the only reason I weigh 205-210 and not 225.

Magnum Ice Cream bars are to novelty desserts as the PS4 is to gaming platforms.

Yes. They are expensive. $4.50 - $4.99 at your local supermarket for 3 bars. However, they are without question the crème de la crème of the ice cream world.

I rationalize their high price by saying "Our bodies hate this stuff, so why not pay a little more, get a little less, and experience the BMW of ice cream bar thingies."

I literally wipe my ass with Klondike bars when they're offered to me.
