Update question please!!

Quick question about updates please!
In my settings I have the auto download updates checked but I am a little confused as to what this is for!
Is this just for Xbox Dashboard updates please or stuff like new maps for BF4 etc?
If just for dashboard/UI etc then how do i download new DLC etc for game like BF4 for eg?

I guess it's for any update that can be pushed through Xbox Live. So yeah, potentially game and OS updates could be in there. I'm not sure if map packs for BF4 would be included in that. China Rising will be available to non Premium members soon enough so I guess if I switch it on some evening and find the maps already there, then that answers that question.

Thanks very much for the reply! Yeah I got premium on BF4 but I turned off my auto updates as I thought this would slow down stuff big time if it started downloading updates while I am playing online for eg

So does anyone know for def if auto updates does include DLC as well as UI updates please?
Also if I wanted to download DLC manually I.e @ night while I am sleeping so it's ready for the morn etc.

You can check yourself easily enough since you have premium. Turn on Auto Update (assuming you potentially have some content to download) and then check Battlefield in My Games and Apps. It should tell you if the title is updating.

Just for some perspective on how this is working, I got the digital version of CoD: Ghosts on 360 and upgraded to the X1 version on launch day. A few days later, the "pre-order" bonus map Free Fall downloaded automatically (I know because I went to manually download it and it said "Installed"). Now, for premium content, not sure if it will work the same way (i.e. if it will know you have premium and download it vs. you having to do something manually in game/dash). I'm just happy it's there as it seems like every time I go to launch an app on the 360 that I haven't used in a month, there is an update that logs me off, updates then logs me back in. This is taking care of that kind of stuff in the background and is most welcome IMO.

yeah not sure it works for premium packs etc, i love the whole idea of downloading stuff in background though, makes life a lot easier :)
