Rainbow Six: Siege is getting a closed beta test later this year and you can guarantee access by pre-ordering the game.

Reddit user j_dirty spotted this poster at a local GameStop which suggests Rainbow Six: Siege is due for a closed beta test.

Ubisoft had not announced a beta prior to that, but confirmed to Videogamer today that a closed beta test is in fact scheduled for later this year.

“Yes, you can now pre-order Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege to get access to the Closed Beta later on this year. Stay tuned for more information on the Closed Beta in the coming months,” said Ubisoft.

Siege is currently in closed alpha testing and a few leaks have come out of it. Ubisoft is clamping down on them fast, but you should be able to watch a full match until that too gets nabbed.

Thought I would share this here. It's from the ubi boards about terrorist hunt.

Alright guys, I gotta say something here.

"HOLY BALLS TERROHUNT IS FREAKING AMAZING.

I got to play it at the uPlay Lounge with some of the other Star Players and it has literally blown my mind about how awesome Rainbow Six Siege is. We were lucky enough to play a couple of rounds, as they started us on normal difficulty, which was a mistake considering we're Star Players and obviously fantastic at tactical games

. We rocked TERROHUNT and disarmed both bombs without many issues, except for one of our team falling off the roof by mistake... Anyhow, they switched it to realistic difficulty after and it hit me that this is exactly what the developers were playing during the press briefing. Realistic is exactly what Rainbow 6 Siege needs, it's difficult, it's tense, it's exciting, and it gets people on your team TALKING because you're all so scared about what's going to happen.

The AI are legitimately intelligent, I was sitting with one of the ballistic shield operators, blocking a main doorway for our team. They realized that they weren't going to get past me, and I was headshotting them left-right and center with my pistol. So they started blowing through walls to hit us from an angle that I couldn't cover without moving. Luckily our team caught on and shored up the defenses a bit there.

We still failed to start defusing the second bomb on the realistic difficulty though. Partially due to some unlucky team-killing on our part, and loss of a player during the first defusing. Incredibly fun, and incredibly exhilarating. We were all talking just like the developers were during the press briefing, getting just as frantic and shouting when stuff started to hit the fan.

The two new maps we saw (consulate and the shooting house) were gorgeous as well. Much better looking graphically than the maps we saw in the alpha. And the game was running nice and smooth. Animations were cleaner, noticeable on the ballistics shield dudes. No flappy-shields anymore. The game is definitely coming along, and I CAN'T WAIT to get a solid group of people together to play TERROHUNT with.

Thanks again to the folks at Ubisoft that made that uPlay Lounge TERROHUNT demo happen after our booth demo got cancelled, and a big thanks to the Rainbow Six Siege team in general for putting out something as fantastic as TERROHUNT."

Sounds like a blast

So Terrohunt is a CO-OP mode?

I will not hold my breath about the AI, but I do hope it is as good as they make out here.

Any idea what he, or she, was playing it on?

Yup. Terrorist hunt has been my favorite mode from past rainbow 6s. I like that it's 5 players now. Mode was such a blast in past games (Especially Rainbow 6 3)

I don't think he mentions the platform, but I'm thinking PC.

T hunt is what will get me to buy this game. Adversarial mode was fun but T hunt is where it's at.

Block-n-Load looks about 50 times more interesting/better designed than this game. Oh Ubisoft...

I
I am British, and I call it a BETA.

STOP BEING A NATIONALIST!!
I'm Aussie, and I say it 'bait-ah' :p And that shiat ain't far off the queens tongue!

This game impresses me! I only ever played the demos back during the first few games. I think i could honestly appreciate these games now. I also think this isa great reason to buy some good headphones/mic.

But it makes me worry what will happen to the 13 year olds that want to play.

When I first read your post, I got excited because I thought there was a great tactical shooter that I had missed. Then I looked up the game. What the crap? Apples to oranges. Might as well have come in and said that Mario Kart looks more interesting and is better designed.

My bad. I just think the hook of RS: Siege is preparing for an attack and coordinating with your teammates. Both of which are done exponentially better in Block-n-Load. I would argue that RS:Siege also pales in terms of how tactical the gameplay is. To me, it just looks like s***ty game design. I'd love to be wrong when it comes out though.

There are competitive multiplayer games out there where a team who practices good communication can overcome a more skilled team on the joysticks. I don't see RS:Siege being one of those games considering how quickly you're able to down your opponents.

Metacritic says.....74/100.....not surprised THL recommended it.

I Googled it and thought it would be some obscure PS4 indie game. But just as bad it looks like something from 2004.

As for RS: Siege, the videos look decent. But the biggest concern for me is the map size and modes. If all the modes are going to end in 2-3 minutes, no thanks. The videos look like Sonic the Hedgehog speed (due to small maps). I just want some standard modes and game length. I can live with small rat maze maps, but not if coupled with super short rounds.

I hope not all of the modes are Search and Destroy type objectives. Those are the worst modes. I don't play them much, but A. They can last literally one minute and B. It seems most of the time people don't even play the objective anyway. The attackers can win just by playing TDM and outkilling the opponents to get an auto-win.
