WHAT IS SMASH BROS.?

"A host of characters like Mario, Link and Kirby leave their own games to get together and fight! Attack opponents to send them flying and knock them off stages. You can battle nearby friends and players across the globe via the Internet, too. Hit opponents to increase their damage percentages. The more damage opponents have, the farther you can send them flying. Use powerful Smash attacks to send opponents flying completely off stages. If you get launched off a stage you can use jumps and special moves to return to the stage and continue to fight." (www.smashbros.com)

WHAT TO BUY:
There will be a physical version, a digital version, and a bundled edition for Smash Bros. on Wii U. The physical and digital copies retail for $59.99, while the bundled version retails for $99.99 and includes a physical copy of the game, a Smash Bros. oriented Game Cube controller and an adaptor for that controller so you can use it on your Wii U.

I preordered the bundle because I am a nerd. I will probably use the Pro Controller, too. Man, I can't believe we still have to wait six months.

Preordered the bundle. Ready to go.

Is this game decent fighter by yourself? Doubt I would ever play this online like most fighters.

If you like playing in your living room with friends and family it's one of the pure funest games there is.

I'd mostly be playing solo so guess I'll either try to rent sometime or find a magic sale.

Reading the Destructoid review it sounds like the single player is decent enough to play alone. Might even dabble in online so I may end up getting it anyways.

Chaotic night/morning. Haven't played yet. Busy with school work.

Will post my experience later.

Ok so:

I preordered the Smash bundle back when it was announced because I thought it would be limited (which happened to be true). I kept it preordered, even if I thought I was going to get the 3DS version instead. Well, come October, I didn't have much money, so I held off on the 3DS version. I am full-time in school, so I don't work that much right now.

Anyway, I started to save some money and managed to get a decent amount of money. I decided to get the Wii U version instead. So, I went to GameStop this week, completely paid it off and waited. Smash was my most anticipated game in some time. I followed the NeoGaf thread for months. The hype was unbelievable. I listened to the soundtrack all week and did my homework while watching illegal streams, lol.

Anyway, I went bowling last night after studying for an exam and trying to do some assignments. We ended at about 12:04. I was worried that GameStop would be closed. I rushed over and there were still a few people in there. I was bummed that I missed the tournament but it happens. I picked up a Fox and Link amiibo as well mostly out of curiosity. I was so excited but a little upset that the anticipation was over. I went to the same GameStop to pick up Brawl at midnight several years ago so it was a bit nostalgic.

I didn't get a chance to really play last night. I fooled around with control options and played a For Fun online game and it was smooth. Way better than Brawl. I was too tired to do anything else.

Woke up today, had to take my dad to a specialist. He was going under, so I needed to drive him. It was two hours before my first class started so I headed over to Toys R Us to see how it was going. Good lord.

I walked over to the video game section and saw at least 10 people buying Smash Bros. I walked to the Amiibo section and there was an entire shelf for the figures. They had every one, but only one Marth and Villager. I wound up getting a Pikachu because I had a giftcard there. As I was browsing, a parade of people came running (literally) over and cleaned it out. I had to see 40 figures pulled off the shelf in less than ten minutes. It was crazy. I know they're doing a 3 for $30 sale, but it was nuts. I went over to Target after because I still had time and they had pretty much nothing. Went to class and decided to stop into GameStop to see what the crowd was like. Mostly sold out of Amiibo. Guy was bragging to me how he bought all of Target's Marth figures. Jerk. Decided to go to Target again to see if they restocked because I heard retailers did and apparently mine did too. Target had all of the Amiibo now. I didn't buy any, though. I saw a few people getting some too.

But wow, Amiibo are really killing it. I am happy with the three I have. I hope they're useful, but if now, they are nice little desk items.

Crazy event, really surprised with the Amiibo response.

Game is awesome, that Mario Galaxy stage looks amazing. Can't wait to play more later. Target had a lot of people picking up the game.

Not sure how much use I would get out of them but I may buy a couple of the figures. Mainly just want Fox.

Nintendo must be making a killing on those amiibos I saw a couple dudes college age earlier at Walmart with their arms full of them taking them to the electronics counter. Also seen some other college kids buying a wii u and smash bros.

Well I played through one classic solo mode last night. Really have no idea what I'm doing.

Was at Wal-Mart and the only Amiibo they had on hand was Link and DK. If nothing else they seem to be selling pretty good.
