What movies have you seen recently?

Someone Marry Barry- Hilarious and crude had me laughing for most of the movie. 7/10

Dallas Buyers Club - Amazing performances from McConaughey and Leto. 5/5
The Sacrifice - Incredible opening scene. Incredible cinematography. 4/5
Prince Avalanche - Meh. 3/5

12 years a slave - 8/10

A very good movie. Has decent acting, cinematography and interesting choice of music and powerful writing. What I think this movie does best is show the brutality of slavery and what it means to be free.

I thought the flashbacks to his free life were great. They were never anything significant or amazing. Just everyday things that we take fro granted.

With the Oscars so close though I would add that IMO movies like American Hustle and Wolf of wall street were better and had better acting.

How many long takes are there in the movie? I am a sucker for uncut shots and Steve McQueen just looooooooves them in Hunger and Shame.

12 Years a Slave - 8/10

Giving it 8 but may possibly give higher score once I wake up tomorrow. 12 Years a Slave is more traditional than Shame both in terms of its source elements and stylistic choices, which is by no means a bad thing here. McQueen has a knack of putting as much objects and actions as possible in a single shot. In Shame I almost thought he had no idea how to edit a movie, though I liked the way it is Though the style stands out much less here, the shots are still longer than they are in most recent films, and they look just fantastic(ally depressive). Its lack of emphasis through frequent cuts and close-ups form a somewhat careless, cruel attitude towards the tragedy on the film, which makes things more poignant than what typical direction would have achieved. The acting is just fantastic, though I think tue actress who played Patsy is immensely overrated. Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael Fassbender hit a career-high note and it's good to see Brad Pitt and Benedict Cumberbatch as well. Very stressful, reminds me of Schinder's List (though darker), this does justice to its source material.

Finished Captain Phillips.

Felt bad for the pirates (the poverty that motivated them) and couldn't help but think about how much money goes into U.S. military operations. It's a f***ed up world!

Lore - Interesting WWII movie. Saskia Rosendahl was great. 4/5
Bernie - The documentary style interviews went on for too long. Black Jack is alright in it. 3/5
Blue Is the Warmest Color - The very end was pure cheese and felt out of place. Everything else was wonderful. Adèle is cute as f***. 5/5

Broken Flowers - A boring waste of time. Murray played his role of a walking corpse very well. 2/5
Violet and Daisy - I would marry Saoirse. meh/5

Dallas Buyers Club - 7.5/10

Another very good movie. I know Matthew McConaughey is getting lots of praise for his performance, with good reason, but for me, Jared Leto stole the show with his performance.

2 Guns - 8/10 .

Mark Wahlberg is quickly becoming my favorite actor over the past few years, he can be funny as hell when he wants to be and is great in action and drama movies too. Teams up well with Denzel here for an entertaining, funny movie with a memorable final sequence!

Just saw Lone Survivor last night too and wow what a movie, Wahlberg didn't really steal the show either it was a terrific all round movie, they built the tension up perfectly. I liked the respect they gave to the real life soldiers too at the end of the movie.

The Fourth Kind - 7/10

I'll likely take a bit of stick for that score, but I really enjoy this movie. Is genuinely creepy, and I rarely say that about movies. It has some flaws to be sure and a bit of contradiction here and there, but overall a very solid, IMO.

Yeah I really enjoyed that too. Marky Mark has come along way since he did Shooter. He and Denzel made a good duo too.

2 Guns is just a fun filled action romp:)

I'm going to have to check this out. Wahlberg hates being called Marky Mark, Eminem called him that on MTV years ago he was pissed.

Homefront. 3 1/2 out of 4 stars.

Probably my favorite Statham movie thusfar! Stallone is a pretty good writer!

Damn better than Crank? Have to check this out as well. Yeah Stallone has always been a good writer, I believe he won an Oscar for Rocky.

Watched 300 rise of an empire. Disappointing show. Hardly any story, & you do not feel for any characters. Its a far cry from the original 300.

The Last days on Mars. 3 out of 10

I love sci fi and am very lenient on scoring films in the genre. But this is bad. Turns into zombies in space.

Gravity. 8 out of 10.

Really enjoyed it. Bullock and Clooney were pretty good in this.

Yeah i thought Homefront was much better then his previous movies they were becoming pretty mundane and predictable, definitely what Stathy needed, even though he does kick a lot of ass it was always for a good reason.

 Dear God! The scene at the gas station!? Not going to spoil it but, its quick, fast and visceral! Looks soooo painful! I was like, "Ahhhhhhh......Eeeeeeeee......Daaayyyuuum!"

....Well Stallone writes with heart and ferocity, always has. So when you add an action character like Statham to a Stallone script, you're going to get the goods! Seriously. If you enjoy Statham as I do, Homefront is totally worth the price of admission. I bought it without thinking twice.

Will definitely check it out, thanks.

The Last Stand: 8.5/10. Thought it was pretty good. I've enjoyed every moment in the movie.
