What movies have you seen recently?

I liked the new Robocop. I feel like there are pros and cons to each, but the original does a better job with it's characters overall and I liked how the original handled the abandonment of Murphy's family.Although, I like how the remake goes more in-depth to detailing the circumstances under which Robocop is created, and Murphy's transition into the suit. When you see him just as lungs and a head, it's kind of a horrific moment. The original never really dug into that moment of horror. There's a part of me that would love to see the best of both worlds combined, but the truth is, these movies are products of their time. Would not be against them making some sequels though. I do feel like the people who make these films can do a better and more respectful job than those before them though.

It's a bit after that when
the armour is stripped away and he sees how much is left of him, just a head, lungs and a hand, and he says "Jesus, there's nothing left."

Yeah, that was what I was referring too. I was as shocked as he to be honest.

Wedding Crashers - 9/10

Had been a while since I last watched this. So I cracked open the blu-ray case yesterday and gave it another whirl. Still awesome. That late night bed rap still makes me lol.

Went to Captain America 2 last night and had a wonderfully mediocre time. Some nice action scenes tho.

Was a little let down by American Hustle. Really thought I would love this movie but it was just pretty good, but not amazing like I was hoping for.

Watched about half of The Wolf of Wall Street last night and so far.....awesome! Wow, didn't realize this movie was going to be such an amazing dark comedy! I was howling at some parts, this movie is ridiculous! Can't wait to finish it later.

The Raid 2 - 20/10

Sooo much better then the original, i didn't even know that it was 2 and a half hours except when my girlfriend told me (i dragged her along) the final fight(s) still give me chills, i'm gonna see it again and then get the DVD when it comes out, it was also a lot more brutal then the original.

Excellent news.

Still got like 10 days before it releases over here but I can not wait. Was a big fan of the first and this sequel looks awesome.

Winter Soldier 8.5/10
Really solid thriller, but I only have a few complaints: weak villain and poor editing.

Went and watched Noah last weekend. I would give it a 7/10. I thought it was good I loved the look and Crowe and Jennifer are great, but to me the battle scenes just did not fit the rest of the movie. I wish it would have just been about Noah and his struggle we did not need big action battles.

also rented a bunch of movies over the past month.

12 Years A Slave - 10/10 damn good movie. Cast was great all around. Really stuck with me after it was over. Deserved the win for Best Picture.

The Wolf Of Wall Street - 9/10 loved this movie. Was just fun to watch and even though it was 3 hours kept me entertained till the end. If it wasn't for McConaughey in Dallas Buyers Club I think DiCaprio deserved his first Oscar win for this. McConaughey had a funny part in this too. One of those movies to watch with your friends and crack open some beers and enjoy.

American Hustle - 7/10 had a good cast and Bale was great, but to me it just seemed like a poor mans Martin Scorsese crime/gangster film. I was expecting more. It was decent just did not live up to the hype.

Gravity - 8/10 2nd viewing (first I saw in theater in 3D). Watching it at home on my 55' HD on Blu Ray does not do this film justice. It is still fun to watch and a good survival movie.

Dallas Buyers Club - 8/10 McConaughey and Jared Leto were a lock for the awards. Both with some great performances in this. Good movie.

Hunger Games: Catching Fire - 8/10 I enjoyed it thought it was a little better than the first. Looking forward to see where it goes from here. Know nothing about the books so have no idea whats next.

Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom - 7/10 thought it was pretty good, but they stuffed way too much into one movie. Parts of it I wanted to see more of and they just moved through some parts of his life way too fast. Idris Elba did do a good job though.

Thor: The Dark World - 7/10 was ok I liked the first one a little more. Going to see the new Cap Winter Soldier in the next few weekends heard good things so far.

The Counselor - 6/10 what a big let down that was. From Ridley Scott, a cast like this, and the writer from the book No Country For Old Men I was expecting more.

Inside Llewyn Davis - 8/10 I actually enjoyed this one. Its setting, cast, music, story, it kept me interested till the end. Its different than the recent Coen Brother films and I can see why most will not like it. If you give it a chance you might be surprised.

Oldboy (Remake) - 7/10 it was ok the twist in the end was a oh s*** moment. I have never watched the old film so I knew nothing about the story only that a man gets locked up for many years then released and he goes for revenge. I have heard a lot of people say it does not live up to the original and did not need a remake.

Nebraska - 7/10 it was decent but I was expecting more out of it with the praise it was receiving.

Last Vegas - 7/10 was ok had a few laughs and it was fun watching these guys in a film together. Did what it was setting out to do no more no less.

Ender's Game - 8/10 I enjoyed it. Knew nothing about the book going in so I did not know what was coming. It was a good sci-fi flick and it was nice seeing Ford back on screen.

Escape Plan - 5/10 Stallone and Schwarzenegger need to give it up they can not carry movies like they use to. I give Stallone a little more props because I did enjoyed the new Rambo and Rocky movie, but Schwarzenegger has lost it.

The Family - 6/10 it was decent and I did get a kick out of the Goodfellas part.

Enough Said - 7/10 my wife rented this one. I thought it was pretty good and Gandolfini and Dreyfus were good together. Better than most chick movies.

The Butler - 9/10 great movie I really enjoyed it. I'm a history buff so I enjoyed every minute of it.

Rush - 9/10 damn good movie. Was entertaining till the very end. Did not know who to side with throughout the movie.

In a World - 8/10 was a nice surprise I enjoyed it. Lake Bell was great.

Kick Ass 2 - 6/10 big let down the first movie was fun, but this one could have been better. A few cool scenes.

Fruitvale Station 9/10 great movie up there with some of the best last year.

Parkland - 7/10 it was ok but no JFK.

The Frozen Ground - 7/10 ok cop/killer movie with a interesting setting in Alaska. Nic Cage and Cusack did a decent job. I love these types of movies.

Pain and Gain - 8/10 Mark and Rock were fun to watch and it is a crazy story. Nice to see Bay do something other than a big action blockbuster

Captain America: Winter Soldier - I am really not sure what all the fuss is about. I thought this was fairly mediocre. The action, Meh. The story, Meh. Honestly, I think this is one of the worst comic book movies, not one of/or the best.

People seem to love it or hate it i've heard great things about it on reviews but not from people who have been to see it, been a bit of a super hero nerd i will probably end up dragging my ass to see it, just like people should be doing for the Raid 2!

Honestly, from my perspective, Captain America has been the weakest of the comic book icons thus far. I didn't enjoy his two standalone movies all that much, and didn't enjoy him much in Avengers either.

Raid 2 is high on my priority list;)

CATWS, I loved it. I'm probably going to go see it again this weekend with my nephews in imax 3d.

The Raid 2: Berandal - 8/10

A hugely enjoyable action flick. Have to say though, I think I prefer the first movie, its action was a lot more constant. Raid 2 is a bit more typical and its action more sporadic.

Just came back from Captain America: The Winter Soldier. 8.5 / 10
It was nice. Great fights and action sequences. Like every Marvel movie stay seated for scenes after the credits..

I'll seconded this post. I liked the movie

How could it be worse than X men 2 and 3, fantastic four? Spider-Man (all of them) those are the reasons I haven't seen anymore comic books movies lol (didn't see any of the hulks, iron mans, avengers, green lantern, thor, cap, ) and whatever else. Tired of seeing wrong actors bad costumers and just bad everything. So I had no interest in them. New Xmen was alright though.

Storm is from Africa, so let's get Berry to play her.. I mean, come on. might as well just get M. Jordan to play Professor X.

I am talking about the comic movies since Iron Man. So pretty much all the ones you haven't seen. I actually enjoyed Spiderman 1 & 2, thought they were decent, where as the new amazing Spiderman I thought was rubbish. X-men 2 was very good IMO, it is the best of the X-men movies with the exception of X-men first class.

"Joe"

new nicholas cage film

I didn't enjoy this. Found it to be pretty boring from start to finish. While it may be Cage's best performance to date, it still isn't anything great.
