What movies have you seen recently?

Well, think about it.

Oppenheimer didn't actually make the bomb, he just got there first.

And when he successfuly created it, he was discarded. He was brought to whatever goes on in America because he didn't think the hydrogen bomb was necessary..........

And they f***ed him over. What he did do, was create something that was going to be created by someone else, and then wanted to create a discussion on not using this thing ever again if possible.......

That is a noble man. But it's also Hollywood so I don't acutally know.

What I do know is Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. were f***ing amazing and I'm super cool with the awards this year, and I don't even sit down and watch this s*** anymore.

We need Ricky Gervais for all awards shows IMO. Put these f***ers in their place. (I'm joking around btw)
Could you imagine laying in bed every night wondering if you helped create the thing that could eventually destroy the world.

It’s crazy how close we came during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

I watched Lord of the ring again (2nd film now). Damn it was so long ago, I remembered watching fellowship with my school mates with no idea what I was watching,

The film aged well, & literally moving art. Cinegraphic at its best. The sceneries were amazing, & they never fail to show of the New Zealand lanscape & moutain range whenever they can.

Every main char, even NPC are good looking. Even the Saramon, who was a main bad guy looked great. (The late Chisoptor Lee had a screen presence. "He was 6"6 I think. Every warrior has amazing cusostume, good looking, and fit. No baldy or shorty, or fat people except the dwarf & hobbit of course. Even frodo & his friends are looking good.

The women are gorgous, Liv looked like a goddess in the films.

yes I can imagine. not sure if i said it in this thread, but my father was a nuclear engineer. worked at the local nuclear power station and eventually became a high level manager.

back in the 80's, when in elementary school, we used to do drills about getting on a school bus in case of an accident, and were even tested to see if we could take iodine pills.............

I'm a kid, my dad works there............ there were nightmares.

He would tell me "there a 3 levels of fail-safe" basically telling me it's next to impossible for there to be an accident.

Oppenheimer simply created something that someone else would have created "and he shoved off the need to develop the H bomb which is much more powerful, and got in trouble for that"

In the movie there's the moment where they took his design, dropped it, and they all heard about it on the radio from Truman who called him a crybaby for feeling like he had blood on his hands, and he said "if only we had it in time to drop on the Germans!" That was his goal and he failed I guess.

The rest is up to opinion.

War is disgusting. It's good that this movie won so much. It deserves it because it is a masterpiece IMO and really anyone should look back on this and other WWII stuff and just be like........there's no reason for this violence. Surely we can work something out with diplomacy no?

The greatest trilogy from start to finish ever made that will hold up decades from now. Love them.

After watching the film I looked up other tests. The Russian’s tested the most powerful bomb ever. They fitted it with a parachute to slow its decent to give the massive plane (bomb was heavy as hell) and its crew time to escape the blast for fear it would knock their plane out of the sky, they survived.

There's video out there of the actual Trinity test. And yeah, Russia "tested" as in exploded the biggest H-Bomb ever, they have the land to do that.

USA did most of their post wwii testing on islands in the pacific.

There is a new documentary called Downwind its on Amazon Prime and Peacock. It’s about the US bomb tests on US soil and the effects it had on the US population.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Can't believe this movie came out nearly 25 years ago now. Getting old is weird.
If you enjoyed historical martial art film, try the "Once upon a time in China " series of films (The first 2, tat least), starring the then spring chicken Jet Li at his prime. The 2nd film was the best starring then spring chicken Donnie Yen at this prime. The fights between them were epic.

It also starred the bad guy from Blood sport (another classic film, base on a "true story", but thats a story for another day)

Also, the story was deeper than most historical setting action film of its time in Hong Kong (now part of China), where the Villian (Donnie) was not a one dimension villain, & not all the Westerners (some good & some bad like every society)in China not always just mindless baddies like mostly protraited in Chinese film of that time. Just watch it. I think you can watch the full movie frre on youtube with subtites.

By the way, Jet Li was a Martial art champion. He was gowned to be a film star at a young age.

Sicario - 8/10

Watching triggered a memory I had of some people being upset about actual murder scene photos being used in a movie. Turns out, this was that movie. I knocked a point off because that was definitely in bad taste.

I finished the Lord of the ring Trilogy. I will honor this timeless art-price by never watching ring of power.
I am blessed to be able to watch this on cinema, unlike original star wars.

When I have the time, maybe I will write a review why it is so amazing (The characters & story).

Now I wanted to watch Tolkien movie to know more about this story telling genius.

I want to explain a little why the films are so amazing (outside the visuals and cinegraphy) . There are many sub stories and interactions between the casts, that really make you feel for them.

Let me give a few examples.

The bromance/duel between Legolas & Gimmi playing out over 3 films are amazing to watch

The Sam/Frodo bromance that was storytelling masterpirce. Sam is one of the favorite char after 3 films. True good friend that will go to hell for him.

The father/son favorism that hit hard, between Boromir, Faramir. The sadness when Faramir willing to sucide mission to prove his worth to his father.

Then the love triangle between Aragorn, Arwen and Eowyn. I felt a sadness when Aragon turned down Eowyn affection.

Then there is the father daughter subplot between Arwen and Elrond play out in 3 films. He was protective of her & wanted the best for her. But Arwen love for Aragorn, made her choose mortal life, & the father affection for his daughter give in, & helped Aragorn forged the sword of king, & blessed their love with Aragorn.

So much more.

Give Rings of Power a watch, F the haters. Of course it’s not on the level of the LOTR films nothing ever will be. It was still entertaining and I enjoyed being in this world again. Had a pretty cool finale. Looking forward to season 2 this year.

Have you rewatched The Hobbit movies? I did last year in 4K. I don’t think they’re as bad as people made them out to be. I enjoy them and the cast. With how rushed Peter Jackson was with the projects I’m amazed they were even this good. Being in that world again is still magical.

Iron Claw: good

I've never watched pro wrestling. Never heard of this family. Film held my attention mostly because of the foreboding nature of the storytelling. Yet somehow in the end, the film felt a bit empty. Needed more closure than just some text on a screen.
Loved the movie.

The true story is that there was a sixth brother who had a similarly tragic end as the youngest. They omitted him in the screenplay because they felt it would be too much for the audience.

I read the hobbit. Will try to read the lord of the rings trilogy
I read the Lord of the Rings trilogy just a few months before the movies came out. Thought it was worth doing.

I'm glad I did. And the movies were awesome, no snotty comments from me about what they left out or changed "where tf is Tom Bombadil"

Never read the Hobbit. Tried watching the movie and couldn't get into it.

If you read the Lord of the Rings novels, I promise to read the Hobbit. Deal? haha.

Gradiator is amazing. I am glad i was able to watch in cinema.
When I was a kid, I was obsessed with historical civilization especially Rome. Watching gladiator was amazing.

When I finally visited rome, I felt like a kid in a candy store.

Rome must be jaw dropping at its peak for any one at that time visiting it.
