What we want to see in the first XBOX ONE OS update

OK so some of us have had 10 or so days with the console and I thought it was about time to see what some of you want to be added or improved upon for the first OS update.

Here is my list.

  • Party Chat - Need to be like the 360's
  • Friends list - make it more like the 360's where if I select a friend I can join him in a game while still in another party chat.
  • Home Screen - allow us the ability to pin items there since this is the default screen
  • Messages - Give us Siri like functionality for sending text messages.
  • Voice Messages - Bring back voice messages
  • Memory Usage - Allow us to see how much space is left and control what we ant on the HDD or other storage once this becomes available
  • Battery Life - give us an indication of how much is left in our controllers, also give us a warning like the 360 controller has when battery is getting low. I should never be in the middle of a match and the controller just die.
  • Nice to have - Let us see what apps are in memory for easy switching

OK so that's my list for now. I am sure there are some other things but for now that's it.
That list right there sums up my feelings on what needs fixed FAST. I hope all of this can be done or improved on.

there needs to be an ability to snap a friends app (which doesnt exist atm). so i can quickly see who is online/offline

Love the system. Think they are off to a great start. Just needs a Windows 8.1 tweaking, which seems like something they can do with how they built the platform.

Here is my list:
- Flip snapped apps.
- Better sorting in Apps and Store section. By name, used date, etc.
- More recognized commands.

Not sold on the need for a HDD utility. From what I understand, once your drive becomes full, you will get the choice of things to be deleted. As long as I get to pick and choose when it does want to make space, I am happy never having to worry about how much space I have.

So, the Xbox Feedback site put up by Ryan McCaffery (Xbox IGN editor) is probably the best collection of stuff I've seen. Grimmy linked it above but in case you missed it:

http://xboxfeedback.com/

Suggestions from me (neither of these is really directed at current functionality but nice-to-haves):

Windows Media Center Extender App (I'll even pay for this; was on 360). If I had this, I could sell a 360 that I'm only using for MCE on top of the X1. Would also free up the HDMI port so I could plug something else in (PS4, etc.)
Retail codes for digital game purchases (the only realistic way I'll go digital). I would not have bought a physical copy of any game had I been able to get at retail with the B2GO deals and such. Moving forward for me, all games will be $37.99 - $47.99 so I can't justify paying $60 for digital titles through the console....need the codes at retail so I can get them for same price as physical.

MP3 audio support. I have no clue why they took out this feature. I want to listen to my music off a usb drive while playing games. I love everything about Forza, but running countless laps without my own music gets really boring.

This is the part that doesn't work for us. We can get in the party chat but can't turn chat on. Only one person in the party can have it turned on. It's really strange. However it did work the first day.
Exactly same thing with me! Me and my son use skype as party chat don't work every time???

Loving the x1 but it def needs ability to check controller battery life and HDD storage
Why they left these two functions out is beyond me???
