Nintendo, everyone is making GCN games run on Wii U, except YOU!

Nintendont is a homebrew application for the Wii (and thusly, the Wii U via Wii mode) that takes advantage of the fact that the Wii U is backwards compatible with the Wii...which means it's also fully backwards compatible with the GameCube. Yes, that's right - the Wii U can play GameCube games natively. No emulation here.

Wonder why Nintendo just didnt unlock this feature from the get go ? I still have my Wii hooked just so I can play my Gamecube collection.

It's because Nintendo is really weird and makes no good business decisions. Given how the Wii is an overclocked Gamecube, this should have been a mandatory feature.

With Gamecube controller support being released maybe they will release some Gamecube VC titles ? Who knows at this point lol

It probably has to do with the small disk size though. It wouldn't surprise me if they did not want to spend more on the drive and removed the capabilities for the slot loader to deal with the smaller disks. So they might just get stuck in there, if not: Isn't there something else odd about the manner of which the data is written to a GC disk? I feel a bit like they just did not care enough to invest in having it work with the smaller disks or that it was a cost cutting mechanism of some sort.
