Windows 10: Feedback mechanisms

You might have to refresh your pc

I'm holding out for dear life for that last resort, with hope that MS will put out a fix. :(

If that happens to me I will run back to Windows 7, but so far things seem okay on my PC.

I tried to run it back to Windows 7, but I got the message saying that I am missing critical files and I can't do it. My guess is that I did a systems restore which altered something.

Refresh it not restore, you can keep your files.

The files I was tracking, but do you lose your programs?
yes, any programs that you install beside the apps that comes with windows 10 will be removed. there will be a list at the end after the refreshv is complete of all the programs you have.
The files will be there though. Example,: you have all your docs but not MS Word.

I'm a technician, I know these things. Also if you roll back you will have a month to jump back to Windows 10 for free.

At my job with back to school and this upgrade I am getting killed with amount of clients coming to me. I had to work 10 days straight. Thank god I'm off but this will only die down after the year upgrade is over.

So I went ahead and reset my PC with the option to keep my files.

I first thought that I would lose my RAID setup (My 3 hardrives not including my SSD are configured for Stripe), but it still kept it. Because I had the majority of my programs on my raid which the bulk are steam games, I didn't have to re download anything. Just my drivers.

I did lose my Microsoft Office 2013 though, since I forgot to write down the key from my University's site through Microsoft's program.

I did notice that my screen looks a tab bit less sharp (Like a bit blurry on text and what not), but is fine ingame. My guess is that it had to do with the fresh OS install and losing Windows 7 may have lost some sort of backward compatibility it had with my AMD Graphic drivers even though I downloaded the Windows 10 drivers. I noticed these blurry text everytime I did a clean install of my AMD graphic drivers back on Windows 7. Maybe I just have to wait for the next AMD drivers.

At least my Start button and task bar is working again.

I do think it was kind of neat for Windows 10 (Probably a feature in Windows 8 as well) to create a file to list the programs that were removed and gives you possible links to those programs directly online to reinstall them.

Like I said it will leave a icon of the programs that was removed. You should get back your MS office University account with the recovery.

Why is transferring music/playlists to phones such a pain in the arse with W10/Groove??

Damn.

Encountered my first issue with Windows 10.

My Start button doesn't work at all, even if you press the Windows key. Plus my Microsoft Edge icon on my Taskbar is invisible (Won't open on click), but you can tell it's still there. In fact, most of the icons and search capabilities on my Taskbar isn't responding when you click them.

I tried various possible solutions but no luck. A system restore didn't help either. Apparently there's been a reasonable amount of people that had this issue during the preview period but Microsoft hasn't fixed it.

I hope an update will come soon because I really don't want to reinstall the OS and lose my programs.
Did you have this issue after an upgrade or clean install? I ran into the unresponsive Taskbar as well after an upgrade. I did data migration to my new SSD after the upgrade though so thought that may have been part of it. After a fresh install though it has been fine.

After I did the Reset option (Clean Install) I haven't ran into that problem again.

From the short amount of research I did when I was troubleshooting the issue, it appears that it was happening to those who upgraded from an older OS (Win 7, 8.1).

W10 has been great for me so far, only issue is sometimes my graphics card stops working and I have to install some update or else only 1 monitor works. Annoying, but seems rare.

lol my Start Menu is hosed again after an update last night. Goodbye Windows 10.

Damn.

At the very least try out some "Fixes" that has been discussed in some of these support fourms.

Just a couple of links I used when I was having the issue. It didn't fix it for me, but I did this when I had the issue from an upgrade, and not a clean install so you may get lucky.

Nevertheless, you're getting me worried now. :(

Every so often when I turn my comp the display on my double monitors doesn't work. Anyone else have this issue?

By doesn't work I mean:
- Sometimes the 2nd monitor just shows a bunch of lines
- Sometimes both monitors have picture but one or both of the monitors don't take up their full resolution.

A restart usually fixes it.

I ended up just doing another clean install since I have an extra drive now and backups are easier. We'll see what happens.
