Feels kind of like the Phoenix thing all over again, yet this time Singer is still on board. Hopefully while seeming to be big action flick, this still manages to be a more coherent movie.

For some reason, Apocalypse seems like he could walk the line between being total badass or really cheesy.

Apocalypse looks so much better than he did a few months ago, and it's nice to see that he can modify his size too. Still hoping that they didn't make Psylocke American but we'll see, but I'll settle for Cyclops being done justice and not being second fiddle to Wolvie.

I kind of hope Wolverine is the one who gets killed in this.

You mean the on-set photo that had zero post-production added onto it what so ever? I felt like people over reacted in all honesty. Everyone seems to forget how easy it is just to change colors.

That said, I'm not as excited as I was when I saw the post-credits of DotP. Still on board to watch it though. Plenty of people have s***ted on it, but I really enjoyed DotP.

No, I mean the Empire magazine cover and official stills from the film. He looked like hell. Not buying the excuse they gave either about post production on him not being complete. They kept their options open with the look which is fair enough, but that first look was the original choice if you ask me.

Yeah Apocalypse looks good, I'm glad they are going back to the more traditional look for the characters instead of trying to make them all human versions of comic characters. I think people who freaked out over him in the stills didn't really think about how he was going to look when put into the film with all of the other characters around him and the proper lighting etc, it was kind of an out of context type of pic.

Question for the Marvel fans: Is this based on a specific story? It seems like I remember seeing a series called Age of Apocalypse. I never read this though because at the time I was annoyed that it went like a steamroller over a lot of the existing story arcs(It cut short a cool direction for The Hulk), but it seemed like it was kind of an Alternate Universe thing?

If so, it seems like Bishop would be in this?

Legion (David Haller), a psychotic mutant on Earth and son of Professor Charles Xavier, travels back in time with the intention of killing Magneto. However, Legion travels to a time when Magneto and Xavier were still friends. As Xavier dies trying to protect Magneto, Legion vanishes, and a new timeline is created. The only person aware of how history has changed is Bishop, a time traveling mutant who followed Legion.

Because of Xavier's sacrifice, Magneto comes to believe in his late friend's dream of a peaceful coexistence between humans and mutants. Apocalypse, an immortal mutant villain, was monitoring the fight. He chooses this moment as the perfect time to begin his world conquest, which did not happen in the mainstream Marvel universe for another ten years.

Magneto assembles the X-Men just as Apocalypse begins his war. Despite the X-Men's resistance, Apocalypse conquers all of North America and eventually mutants are considered the ruling class. Apocalypse also initiated a genocidal campaign called "cullings" killing millions of humans. To further ensure that no one was left to challenge him or undo the circumstances that led to his reign, he had everyone with telepathic or chronal abilities hunted down. Meanwhile, the changes in the timeline result in a destructive crystallization wave created by the M'Kraan Crystal.

Hard to say, we've only seen snippets. We see Magneto and Apocalypse side by side, but I'm not sure if that's a indication of anything besides an allegiance. It's possible that they'll be running a storyline style to Days of Future Past.

Not doing great in reviews so far.... Some even saying its no better than last stand

Yea looks like its ok but disappointing.

Semi-review spoiler.

Magneto and Xavier are apparently barely on screen together, how dumb is that. They were so good together in first class it made the end painful.

I'll go see it, as I'm super excited for this just to see certain characters on screen for the first time. People nitpicked Days of Future Past to death, but I genuinely enjoyed it and felt like it was arguably the best X-Men movie. Haven't watched the director's cut version I bought though....

The Rogue Cut is great. I like both versions of DOFP but the Rogue cut is slightly better.
Well, I bought just because they cut out an entire side story essentially, and like a dodo head, it's sitting in my basket of DVDs. I'll probably watch it before Apocalypse though. Might get First Class too and make a little double feature out of it.
