Its obviously successful, so it is a moot point. It is just tiring. I try my best to be optimistic here but there is way too much negativity. Both systems look great. I chose Xbox one first because of mainly its exclusives, though I love the UI. Later I will get a ps4. You are allowed to own both! I even have a Wii u. None of my systems fight.
Nah, Costco by me had a pallet of them sitting at the entrance on Tuesday. They are getting them out there.
Launch periods won't dictate much. The Wii U sold out at launch. It is what happens in the quarter and year after that will give us a solid indication.
Anyone who thinks either one of these consoles is going to be a failure is so wrong it's funny. They will both sell as much or more than what their previous versions sold this last gen and neither of those were failures. Bookmark this post if you want and we'll see in 8-10 years just how right I am.

I don't think people think they will be a failure. They won't. I think they might think that one might sell more than the other in the early years of the generation and it will be by a wider gap than the last generation. I think that is the point of interest.
Fair enough. I thought in bringing the WiiU into the conversation you were saying one of these consoles could end up like the WiiU which I do believe when all is said and done will be a failure but that's possibly a convo for a different thread.
The Wii U was sold out at launch, but after a week, you could pretty much find them any where and from then on out, they have been readily available. Seems like a different vibe for the PS4 and XBOX ONE. Yes they have been available, but they sell out of stock with in hours of getting new supply.
Nah, all I meant is everything sells out launch between the hardcore and and the scalpers. They are very different customers from the mainstream and not indicative of anything long term. But both consoles will be just fine and the WiiU might be if they can get it to 199. There are some solid games on the system now.

Dam, do they just send out small (relatively speaking) batches every other day? Seems like they are constantly getting restocked and then sold out.
I don't know but i hope it continues! Maybe they've got a warehouse full of them and they close sales for a few hours or something to see where they're at. Seems random that they'd keep getting a truck load every other day instead of one batch. Who knows.
I heard Best Buy and Walmart have shipments as well they wait so they can advertise them in their weekly ads, both are supposed to have X1s in stock Sunday.
They're not... it's just that their site is essentially a centralized shipping HUB which manages all the distribution, so they're shipments are received/sent out more efficiently than to other places (not to mention Amazon is abroad reaching retailer)... but other places are getting re-stocked too.

I'm pretty sure there was an article before both systems launched that said most analysts were picking the XBOX ONE to outsell the PS4 early on mainly because they had heard that MS was going all out with the production, while Sony was having issues. This would most likely explain why the XBOX ONE is getting restocked over and over. And they aren't just sitting there either. They are selling out nearly as fast they get announced.
I actually agree that it's not worth $500. No console is. But I play it everyday, while the PS4 gets used on occasion.
Restocking or not, I can't wait for 2013 sales reports to release. I want to see how close all the online polls are to actual reality.... where every poll showed PS4 favoured at 3:1 to 4:1 ratios. X1 sold 1M units in 24 hours. So at that time, PS4 should already be at 3-4M minimum.
Or conversely, if PS4 has sold let's say 2M at this time, X1 should only be at about 600,000 tops and MS lied about the 1M in 24 hr sales the whole time.
PS4 is $100 cheaper, is sold in 19 more countries, sold in the biggest market (USA) for an extra week before X1, supposedly has better manufacturing as X1 was hobbled by manufacturing blunders and yield issues, and of course all the bad press, while PS4 was winning every poll.
Should be a slam dunk for 3-4x more sales. Time will tell.
