I had a friend that mentioned something called Illumiroom coming out in the future for X1. He stated that one day we'll have a holographic projection of Cortana to speak with, not just the TV. Are any of you familiar? I probably spelt it wrong, but this is all the info I have.

Illumiroom. It was shown as a concept using kinect 1 and a projector, but MS said the whole set-up was too expensive, and thus would be viable. I do believe someone high up said they'd keep it on the backburner as there was a good bit of interest. I'd love it, myself.

The vid title says X1, but this is old footage from the kinect 1 concept.

I'd definitely want it, but it would be so expensive I don't think I could justify it.

It'd probably be around 2-300 bucks. You wouldn't need a high def projector, and I bet a stripped down Kinect wouldn't cost em much either. It certainly wouldn't need microphones. I do think it would need it's own processor to not eat system resources, though.

That cheap? I was thinking much more expensive but that was a completely uneducated guess.

Couldn't they just sell it as software? When using it, everything is disabled or something like that.

That would be cool if they would allow you to jerry-rig one yourself, lol. It needs to sit at the opposite side of the room, across from your TV. The kinect reads what's going on screen as well as uses the 3d data around the tv and creates the effects( my favorite being the grenades "warping" the cabinets around the TV. It can also be directly plugged into your game machine to extend the graphics outside the TV(which would take more rendering power). It's connected to the projector.

You can get SD projectors dirt cheap, and I don't see why you would need more than that.

I also like how it can show stuff on the wall "behind" the entertainment center by cutting out the foreground cabinet. Also how the snow would accumulate on the shelves. Awesome stuff.

That's what I'm thinking. Sell it for x amount of dollars for cheap, make some money back, and see how interest goes.

It is the most impressive thing I've seen in gaming as an add on. I would love for a stripped down kinect dedicated to this to come out day 1 purchase for me.
