Let me know if I missed any, but here is a list of upcoming games (now through 2017) that are exclusive to the Xbox One (console exclusive). My question is, will MS have anything to add to this list, come E3? I would like to see some new IP announcements from them. And I haven't heard of ANYTHING new from them coming. No leaks, nada. While Forza 7 hasn't been announced officially by name, Microsoft did confirm an annual release of a Forza franchise. Halo 6 is not announced either, but I suspect that will be in 2018 with Halo Wars 2 coming out next year.

  • Dead Rising 4
  • Raiden V

  • Crackdown 3
  • Gigantic
  • Scalebound
  • Halo Wars 2
  • State of Decay
  • Cities Skylines
  • Students of Round
  • Sea of Thieves
  • Tacoma
  • Forza 7
  • Ashen
  • Cuphead
  • Astroneer
  • Phantom Dust Remaster

I am sure they will have a couple new IPs for E3.

Not much wrong there IMO. He kind of has a point, PS4 Pro is going to be the big console for a while I would think.
So you agree with the raging Twitter dude that says $249 for an Xbox One S with game is a s***ty deal for Christmas?

That isn;t what he said though. He said it is a s***ty deal to combat the PS4 Pro.

Like I said though, I didn't see too much wrong, but it could have been worded better.

Nah, the dude is clearly trying to bait the exec...

that s*** deal #XboxDone

And then goes on to call it XboxDONE.

Yeah, the dude is trolling. Glad the exec bitch slapped him though. He got burned pretty bad.

is brothers a tale of two sons any good? Really cheap with Xbox deals of the week.

ugh...I hate when I'm finally off work and able to sit down and play for hours there always seems to be some f***ing update! 600Mb yet it will somehow take what feels like an hour until I can play.

Man...playing Skyrim with all the mods is like playing a new game.......I love it. It's a good mix up with BF1.

Trying to talk the wife into getting a 4K tv for the bedroom and getting a Xbox one s.

Having a hard time trying to wait to update the front room for the scorpion.

Coming to Xbox: an overhauled Guide and the end of Snap Mode [Exclusive]

Our trusted sources have given us some information on planned changes to the Xbox dashboard.

We've talked in-depth about what we're expecting for Project Scorpio, but Xbox Oneowners could be in for some big software changes on their current consoles. Of course, in development cycles, plans can always change, but here's an idea of what future Xbox Insider Program waves could have in store for Xbox testers.

Improving usability with a new Guide menu
The New Xbox One Experience that launched in 2015 vastly improved the usability of the Xbox One by introducing the Guide menu. Accessed through a double-tap of the Xbox controller's menu button, the Guide gives quick access to party creation, friends lists, achievements, and other important features. In the future, though, it might be able to do even more.

The current Xbox One Guide menu.

The idea is to reduce the steps required to navigate the dashboard, by putting moreof the dash directly into the Guide.

Our sources have told us that Microsoft has tested a new tab for the Guide menu that will provide instant access to recently accessed games, apps, and other system features. Additionally, this new menu will display your pins, allowing you to customize what apps and games appear in the new tab for easy access. Microsoft has also been testing a single button press to access the Guide menu, as opposed to the double-tap implementation available today.

The idea is to reduce the number of steps required to navigate the dashboard, by putting more of the dash directly into the Guide. The full dashboard will remain, of course, but future Xbox One builds could be giving us access to more features in a single Guide tab, dramatically improving the speed and accessibility of important features in the process.

Removing Snap Mode to introduce new Multitasking features
Another aspect of the Xbox dashboard that could be seeing significant changes is the current implementation of app multitasking. Snap Mode allows users to "snap" an app to the right side of the screen, to access a stripped-down version. This is most prevalent in media apps like OneGuide and YouTube, which allow you to view video feeds without leaving your game.

The current Snap Mode implementation.

The current Snap Mode is a relic of the original Windows 8-based dashboard from 2013, back when Kinect was intrinsic to the navigation of the console. Using Snap Mode with a controller isn't the most pleasant experience, and even then, you lose a huge portion of your screen real estate for what you get in return.

I've been told that Snap Mode could be getting removed completely. Indeed, Universal Windows Platform apps are currently completely unable to utilize Snap Mode, and denying UWP apps access to the feature could be evidence enough of its impending removal.

Instead, Xbox looks to be exploring the possibility of a picture-in-picture multitasking implementation, where "snapped" app would simply hover in the corner of your game, rather than wiping out a quarter of your screen with a largely empty bar.

Concept: With Picture in Picture, apps and videos would be anchored to the bottom right.

Details on this new feature are scant, however. Picture-in-picture mode would prevent media apps from losing their most useful multi-tasking functionality, without needing to utilize the legacy Snap Mode feature that UWP apps are currently unable to access. Our sources tell us that the only implementation they have seen so far shows the picture in the bottom-right hand corner of the screen. However, they noted that we'd likely be able to reposition the window or maybe even adjust the opacity to prevent UI elements in games from becoming completely obscured.

I asked if only media apps like YouTube and OneGuide would be supported, specifically for video feeds, but they stated that any app can be displayed picture-in-picture, potentially opening up some interesting opportunities for developers. Time will tell how, when, and ifthis feature sees public access.

Streamlining for Scorpio
We revealed recently that Project Scorpio will be using the same OS as the current Xbox One, retaining all of its functionality, UWP apps and beyond, with additional features for VR. Every update Microsoft brings to the Xbox One OS now will also improve the experience for future Scorpio owners. Streamlining things like app functionality, multitasking, and general navigation will ensure Scorpio launches in a far more polished state than the Xbox One did back in 2013.

I missed having a 360 my last one was a white 4gb slim model I got back in 2011. Wally Mart had a deal on one with 500 gb drive, and Forza Horizion 2 for 129, I had to jump at that. So, now I have both current and last generation consoles from Sony and MS (PS3 slim, PS4 with matte HD cover, 360 super slim, Xbox One S).

Happy Birthday To The Original Xbox's First Unofficial Mascot
Azurik: Rise of Perathia came out within two weeks of the first Xbox's US launch back in November of 2001 (Australia got the Xbox in March the next year). It was supposed to be Microsoft's interpretation of Mario meets Zelda, showing off what the new system could do and creating a iconic dynasty in the process. Instead, the blue-skinned stud rocking Goku hair and goggles turned out to be even more forgettable than Gex

It's actually not a bad article.

That's awesome. Nice article.

Yeah the game wasn't polished as the author said, but it has some strange allure.

It was the inspiration for Avatar according to James Cameron.

*edit* Just kidding, although Halo: Combat Evolved did inspire the motion picture "Aliens"

Lol.

Pretty impressive feat for a 2001 game to inspire a movie that released like 16 years prior to its release.

The original Xbox also had party chat at its time but it was in game till the x360 era.

Also for those who have been on Xbox live as long as I have remember that it also featured voice mask.

Yup, Xbox Live was ahead of it's time. It's been fun to watch the service evolve over the years.

Anyone here play Ark Survival Evolved? I'm still getting into it and learning via SP but would be awesome to join a tribe in either an official or dedicated server.

I don't, but my son plays it a ton on PC. I have watched him, but never could see the praise for it. Graphics look like ass, clipping GALORE, and I don't know.....just couldn't get into what I saw.

Would be nice for people like you if they could get the Xbox version to play with the Windows version.

It has addictive game play, a lot like Minecraft. Cool things you can craft or cool dinos you can tame but everything takes forever so you have to play it a lot to get things done. But yeah definitely not the best presentation.
