I seem to remember when MS changed from points to cash all the cash in your account expires in a year. Is that true or am I remembering wrong?

My gut reaction is "no, that is terrible". I cant see that even being legal. I cant think of an equivalent system that does that. I know some crap gift cards try to to pull that, but they are making that illegal (here in the US).

Ok here is the clarification:

Microsoft Points cards and codes that you have purchased and choose to redeem after your account has transitioned will expire one year from the date the Microsoft Points are redeemed.

So your cash doesnt expire, but if your account has already transitioned to currency, any points cards added to your account will expire. That makes more sense and seems fair as exchange rates change. So it would be possible to buy a $5 points card, that could be worth $6 in a year.

They don't expire, at least not here in California. There is a state law prohibiting giftcards to expire. Even on the back of the Microsoft cards it says *Does not expire*. In fact I just used one that was several years old. Found it under a birthday card I got years ago :)

well I had points on my account then they moved those to cash currency so MS wording is confusing as s*** to me. So being as my cash used to be points before the whole switch they did it does have an expire date then? saw this one there too.

The currency we add to your account at the time of the transition will expire on June 1, 2015. However, the currency you purchase and add to your account after the transition will not expire.

So looks like I got to spend 78 bucks by June 1 2015 or lose it. damn we don't own the games we buy the DLC or even the money now. oh well sure I can spend it no issue. hope with One out they'll have monster sales on 360 DD stuff.
