Xbox One demo system shortages?

Yes, they're having such massive production problems that they can't even spare the 100 or so consoles that would be required for permanent kiosks. That's clearly the only rational explanation.

Ok guys if you look at the dates and times list here I think it shows that they are actually moving Xbox one demo systems from store to store and back again.
Personally I think this really lends weight to the bad yeild rumours.
thats a good theory. And by good i mean terrible. And by theory i mean "pull it out of your ass guess".

If they have to pull the Xbox One out of their asses, no wonder they're going to reuse them rather than supply more. I think you're on to something. #trufFAQ'd

Well if they can't place permenant demo units in the biggest electronic stores in north america weeks before launch I think that alludes to problems somewhere.
But fanboys are gonna be fanboys I guess and would rather be blissfully ignorant.

the only stores this is dealing with are in Canada.. not the US.

This doesn't apply to the US stores. Both of those links are CANADIAN retailers.

It alludes to BB/FS being jerks by moving them around, that's it.

There is no rational way to link production shortages to no enough demo units..if that was the case they might as well call off the launch cause they won't even be able to supply 100 units....

Well if they were to relocate them from store to store (which they may not be) then something is definetely up and you'd have to have your head in the sand not to see it.
Thats unheard of for game consoles.
Guess we'll find out in a month.

From experience I can say that BB/FS does some weird things.

A more likely explaination is that it's Canada and they got low priority with demo units and want to move them around to get more exposure. Could also be that MS is tight on their production forecast and doesn't want to spare too many units as demos and end up not reaching launch demand without their margin of units left on shelves. Neither of those points to production issues.

Here we go with the yield issues conspiracy again.

From what I understand, Xbox One has had plenty of stock, and there will not be the same kind of shortage problems like with the 360.

Some keen sleuthing skills we have here.

I highly doubt the presence or lack of presence of a few hundred consoles is indicative of a "yield problem".

In fact, if we note that some stores have recently gotten more allotments for pre-orders, then that should be ACTUAL EVIDENCE to the contrary.

No, with pre-orders pushing 2 million, they don't have a lot of extra units to spare.

It seems to be whenever someone says what they don't like to hear, "fanboy" gets thrown around.

No. It doesn't make you a fanboy, but it is speculation fueled by a very anti-Xbox sentiment running over at Neogaf, started by some random guy who speaks gibberish and has a cult following there, and has been firmly denied by nearly every Microsoft official. That's all.

I know my Gamestop is not going to get a xbox kiosk but is getting a PS4 kiosk. But they are pushing the PS4 big time at that store because the manager told me they didn't even Know if they were going to do a midnight release because the attachment rate for the xbox one was low do to everybody he talked to was going to digital download at launch and this p1ssed him off.

I know....it's a local gamestop story.....if you don't believe me I don't give a frick.

lol. Well if you think a little harder you will figure out the real reason it is done that way. I will give you 24 hours to think of it. Starting,,,,,.....///////

NOW!!!

I think I can figure out why it is done this way?

These are demo sessions not kiosks.

They are demo'ing the XB1 at these stores at these times at these locations. Meaning they are being done with MS representatives there who oversee the demo. It's not just set up a TV and Xbox kiosk and let folks have a go.

So it has nothing to do with yields but there is something interesting here. What's so hard about sending out kiosks where people can just play some launch games at their big box retailer a few weeks before it comes out? Why this controlled environment?

As someone who has played XB1 a couple weeks ago I have a pretty good idea, and it's the same for the PS4 from what I can tell.

(spoiler: the generational leap is unapparent at this time! They don't want too many people to play it prior to launch because it's underwhelming even more so than the jump from Xbox to 360 or PS2 to PS3)

I think you may be right. If this is the case maybe that MS rep is there to assist with the Kinect aspects of the demo? They are touting it as Xbox Ones biggest feature.

Lets take loads of consoles out and about to public stores no one will try to steal them or anything.

Lets ignore all the consoles they had at E3, Gamescom and TGS.

Not all were PC kits.

Oh and Sony have also been using PC kits..OH NO PROBLEMS!!!!?!

I see this as being very true, but only in the graphics department. This gen, even early on, I expect to see bigger worlds, more players, etc.
