Xbox One X

took the paddles off mine, kept touching them when i shouldn't. so..... paddle free now.

i'd have given up on it altogether if not for the fact i can use the switch to change joypad settings.

It seems impossible at first but at some point it’ll click. I started with just 2 paddles and eventually went to 4. Treat learning how to use the paddles as a game itself. Once you acquire the ability, you’ll be better at everything.

The line about building a sequel to Recore made me laugh, they wouldn't start up a new AAA studio to make a sequel to a budget title that very few people bought. I know that's not exactly the point they were trying to make but they should have used another game lol.

Recore 2 is coming. I have no doubt about that. The definitive version was pretty fuking awesome! A bigger budget and more unique landscapes and this game will develop into Microsofts own Zelda/Metroid hybrid.

State of Decay was a bigger seller for them last gen and all they did was sign a deal with the developer for more games, it's taken years and state of decay 2 is coming out, doesn't look like a game that has a AAA budget though and it's still made by a small team. I have a hard time believing that a game like recore which was poorly received critically and commercially will be on their list of games that gets a sequel let alone one with a AAA budget. Had it been a critical hit with low sales I could see your point but it didn't do well in either category. I have a feeling the only reason it got any upgrades at all was because just about every other 1st party game that came out in the last 2 years got One X upgrades as well (except Ori for some reason which does have the option of 4K on PC)

Actually, A LOT of people liked the game just fine. Who gives a s*** about reviewers? Its definitely got a fanbase and foundation to build on and the protagonist reeks of Microsoft through and through.

Its always finny to me that the same people who say that Microsoft needs to stick with new IP's instead of giving up on them the first outs, should then just abandone the very game that didn't light the world on fire, and should just release a new, original IP. As if that's going to make a dent with the naysayers anyhow. Who h one is it; give up if the game isn't received well commercially the first time, or stick with it? Gamers don't have a fuking clue what they want.. Lol

The smart money is on continuing games like Recore, QB or Ryse since a fanbase for those games all ready exist, and just make a better game the next go round. Sure, the second game may not light the world on fire, but the fans will grow. That's what you want.

Have you even played the game, Jinca? Serious question. Or do you just wait for reviewers to tell you what to like?

You have to ask yourself, is the short time you spend in this reality worth spending on a cheap piece of plastic when you can have a... expensive piece of plastic? I rest my case
Well after reading various claims of things breaking on them... I'm not sure the "plastic" isn't cheap.

Making another Recore makes a lot more sense than another Quantum Break. It probably didn't sell well but it wasn't exactly a big budget game either.

Thing is though, a low budget Recore could've potentially made more money than a AAA budget Quantum Break.

That's probably what got the sequel green-lit anyways.

I don't think Microsoft is trying to go lite on gaming budgets anymore. Its been killing them for a while now. Things gotta change. QB sequel is coming, too.

My point was about how much money it made but it won't change for long if they start flushing money down the toilet

But still, QB may not have made alor of money but there's no denying the game has legs. Alot could be done with the franchise. I wouldn't give up on either one.

Recore did in fact garner alot of fans despite its low review scores. Surprisingly so in fact. That number only seemed to increase after the definitive edition released. I'd be super happy to hear a Recore sequel coming 2019 at E3.

I'd personally give QB to 343i to do the sequel. They innovated Halo gameplay quite well. I can only imagine what they'd do with QB. That's just me tho..

I deny that it has legs. It was totally forgettable and there isn't much of a fanbase asking for it. Alan Wake is the game that needs to be made if you are going back to Remedy. That would actually get people excited. That would actually get people to recognize that they know they made mistakes.

Recore at least has a clear case of it being released too early. If you are going to do a sequel to QB you might as well do one for Advent Rising too while we're at it.

343 innovated nothing and hasn't made a good campaign yet.

Recore has an average critic rating in the low 60's and user rating of 6.7 on Metacritic, ryse is even lower than that and QB is rated higher (70 & 7.7) but also likely had a bigger budget., I don't think I've ever seen you be critical of a game MS has put out so I don't think going by your own feelings would make much sense in this regard. It's totally your right to like every game, it's always a matter of opinion so there is no right or wrong answer but if a company is going to invest tens of millions of dollars in a game and it does poorly both critically AND commercially that's usually all it takes, especially when you look at MS's track record with new IP.

The smart money is not with any of the games you listed, it's not impossible but MS and Remedy don't have an exclusive agreement anymore and Remedy is working on something for all platforms right now so IF a sequel to QB comes it's going to be made by another studio or it'll be years before it happens. Ryse isn't owned by MS and I doubt they'd want to pay to finance a sequel after the first one sold poorly after many years in development and also had low ratings from both critics and buyers.

As far as me playing Recore? Nope, I had no interest in it when it was announced and I still don't, prettying it up on the One X doesn't change that. I fell for that trap and bought Gears 4 for the One X enhancements and it was BY FAR the worst Gears game I've played, it was the prettiest but had the worst story and the gameplay felt old and stale to me.

Saying sticking with a new IP doesn't mean you stick with bad new IP, if Recore had a user rating in the 80's on Metacritic but had low sales I'd agree that it probably deserved a sequel but it doesn't, just because YOU love everything MS puts out doesn't mean that it makes sense to finance sequels. It was a budget title and still didn't sell well on a console starved for new exclusive single player games so what would be the point in financing another one if players and critics rejected the first one? If it were a digital only arcade style game that's one thing but it had a full retail release and had VERY weak sales.

I laid it out logically for you, weak sales and weak critical reception will doom most projects on most platforms regardless of who's publishing them, it has nothing to do with my personal view on these games.

jinca, real s***; is there ANY game you actually like on Xbox? I don't mean "use to" I mean currently. I don't think I've ever heard you gush over one Xbox game the way you do Sony games. Pretty much every Sony game you speak on is pretty great with little to no criticisms. You "go-in" on Xbox games though.

In fact, you'll criticize every Xbox game and then "politely" water it down with a positive at the end - like clock work, actually.

I just enjoy gaming. Im not overly critical of any game, its just not that serious to me. Its a video game, right? As long as its fun, looks great and keeps me entertained, that's all I really care about. Probably makes me a casual but I'm good with that. I bought Inside and Little Nightmares months ago and still haven't finished them - if that gives you any idea..

So yeah, its not overly hard to please me as a gamer. And I found plenty of hours of entertainment in QB and Recore. I enjoyed them both immensely - regardless of metacritic.

Does MS ever announce numbers for anything besides MAU and whatnot?

Anyhow, I agree with JinCA. Don't sink more money into games that got a mediocre reception. Sony isn't funding The Order: 1887. Put your money into stuff like the Playground version of Fable, something that has the potential of being a high-quality, new exclusive.
