When is this game coming out?
My bad....thanksJan 24. It's in the title, though I forgot to put it in the OP (will correct).
lol Rosetta Stone ads on this page. Not sure if because of Japanese game or because I just bought a subscription to the site... for Japanese. So in that case and like a lot of other games I use the original language where it makes sense. I've only done the intro portion so as long as they are talking about a boy, girl, man, or woman eating, drinking, cooking, or running alone or together, I'll know what they are saying. Also what a f***ing mess of a sentence.
That's cool. I'm looking at going there on vacation in a few years (maybe during Olympics) and figured I'd try to learn at least a little bit before I go. Never used Rosetta Stone so not sure how well it will work.I lived in Japan for a couple years, minored in Japanese in school, had a job where I did nothing but speak Japanese all day long, and I still rarely have any idea what the characters are saying in Japanese games!
Yeah, it reminds me off those random rpg battles. Don't know how I feel about it yet. As to your other post about western sales. Iirc Sega has said to the effect, if the next games to be localised don't sell well enough, Yakuza might be done for western audiences. When I see this type of thing, if it interests me, I make an effort to purchase, sometimes.Do you still get 'random' fights while walking around?
Well it's not sold well but apparently it's also had some stock issues but it went from 8th in the UK charts to completely gone.
Series has never taken off outside Japan and I honestly don't ever see that happening.
It was sold out at Amazon for about two days. The thing is we don't know what Sega's meter for success is. Surely it wouldn't be in the high millions, I'm guessing obviously but last I knew, they said they had millions of fans in Japan and about 200-300k outside Japan. The director made it a point to say those fans are actually important to them. If they can sell 350-400k, maybe that'll be good enough?
Koei/Tecmo didn't sell a ton of Toukiden Kiwami but it sold to their expectations, and Toukiden 2 is coming west. I'll be getting that one as I liked the first and all localized Yakuza games.
Sega would take 200k outside Japan cause the series has been a big flop outside of it.
Its hard to jump to the conclusion the series is done if they have sold more than expectations. Selling out certainly suggests it did.
Edit: Yakuza 5 didn't even get a retail release and 4 opened at #26. That is a big jump.
They hardly printed any copies hence still selling out
