He's forgetting that back then the games were finished, no dlc to rip consumers off, and they had to pay for beta testers. Now, we are paying them to be beta testers for the broken games they ship out. On top of the fact far more people are gaming these days than they were back then.

The game is now available for pre-order on the iOS Store, though only those with devices capable of playing it – iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max and some iPad Pro and iPad Air models.

VGC can confirm that in the UK, the base game is free, but it includes a number of in-app purchases, one of which is £57.99 for 'Resident Evil 4'. The US App Store, according to TouchArcade, is charging $59.99.

The addition of a $60 / £58 in-app purchase implies that the initial 'free' 700MB version will be some sort of demo to show the game running on the device, at which point players will have to pay for the full game.

It's fine, they cancelled the PS versions so they couldn't hold them back.

Well I guess now the next gen will give devs more of a reason to support gyro, rumble and haptics for the two high end consoles.

Now Nintendo will be the only one without rumble or haptics in the triggers….unless the super switch will include them, guess we may find out next year?

Hmmm, will Xbox continue with its rumble triggers as well hepatic in them.

I feel the new controller will be pricier and drain it’s battery just as quick as the ps5, hopefully not as bad as the Edge

In the same logic, the PS5 third party exclusives all run at 60 fps more than the Xbox version. Good thing they are not holding them back...

What about movies, don’t they have similar budgets, with maybe the same amount of people for something that sells at maybe 15 to 30 dollars, that’s anywhere from an hour to four, with people dedicated to making something that’s only seen probably once?

Should the console holders consider and devs consider renting games out? Maybe the whole game for a day or two tops or have a set time limit whilst you play?
From what I understand, many movies also made money from DVD (at least in past) and selling to TV station (charge per screening I think) & streaming/cable.
Small ampunt maybe royalities from merchandise.

I think top movies also viewed far more by more people than top games play by people. But I am only speculating.

I am not from movies or gaming industry. I am from automotive, & margin of profit is about 20%, with bigger projects (usually multiple carlines ones) we can earn maybe 8 figures or more profits.

The studios seem to be making more through streaming as they don’t have to pay royalties to everyone else involved through said mode. With cable/reruns I think it’s dependent on their contract, that’s why you’ll see actors hold off renewing with some major shows.

Yeah I heard numbers like that with automotive, that’s why some are trying to add subscriptions and killing of smaller cars cos they don’t make much profit even though they sell more than they do when selling less of others that take in more profits. I think with electronics it’s less, even with apple products, they make like 10-20%…. but I’m not recalling exact details so don’t take my word as biblical
