Sales Comparisons v. 2.0

No doubt but again its my opinion/outlook.
I do think the evidence is there to support my outlook though.

There's evidence, but it's very light evidence. You're making an assumption for a console over a 7-9 year lifespan, based on how it's doing in about a year and a half.

Remember that the same assumption was made about the PS3, and look what happened. Knowing how quickly things change in the gaming world, I'd say making that kind of assumption is not only very premature, but also short sighted.

we can spin these rumors all we want and of course it be suicide for MS to admit this(anyone with a brain should know they wouldn't) but the writing is on the wall.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-07-10-microsoft-boss-satya-nadella-commits-to-xbox

Microsoft boss Satya Nadella has committed to Xbox and pledged to grow the gaming brand's fan base.

In May Nadella countered the suggestion from investors and analysts that its Xbox division should be sold.

At the Code Conference Nadella was asked, directly, whether he would spin off Xbox. His answer: "I have no intent to do anything different on Xbox than we are doing today."

His comments followed those made by Microsoft founder Bill Gates, who had said in an interview that he would "absolutely" support Nadella if he wanted to spin off Xbox.

and

"I also want to share some additional thoughts on Xbox and its importance to Microsoft," he wrote in the extensive email to mark the beginning of the company's 2015 financial year.

"As a large company, I think it's critical to define the core, but it's important to make smart choices on other businesses in which we can have fundamental impact and success. The single biggest digital life category, measured in both time and money spent, in a mobile-first world is gaming.

"We are fortunate to have Xbox in our family to go after this opportunity with unique and bold innovation. Microsoft will continue to vigorously innovate and delight gamers with Xbox. Xbox is one of the most-revered consumer brands, with a growing online community and service, and a raving fan base. We also benefit from many technologies flowing from our gaming efforts into our productivity efforts - core graphics and NUI in Windows, speech recognition in Skype, camera technology in Kinect for Windows, Azure cloud enhancements for GPU simulation and many more.

"Bottom line, we will continue to innovate and grow our fan base with Xbox while also creating additive business value for Microsoft."

You, sir Val, have been debunked ;)

PS3 assumption wasn't made by me in fact I called its comeback.
In gaming Sony has proven its capable of such things MS has yet to make me a believer.

I already said of course they wouldn't admit this.
Talks are still happening as of April 2015

Its in the air "Microsoft is a computing, not a gaming company, and a sale of Xbox will leave the company flush with cash" Forbes

I thought Sony was in deep doo doo with the PS3. And they basically were.

I'm glad they turned things around.

People fail to realize that Microsoft has more money than anyone. They're one of the most successful companies in the world. They can continue supporting the Xbox brand until they decide they're done with it. Sony and Nintendo don't have that luxury. If the PS3 didn't recover last gen there would be no PS4. Nintendo doesn't take risks on the hardware and it's because they know they'd be the next Sega if things didn't go well.

Lol so you are saying the Xbox One is more successful then the 360?

Wow everyone must have it wrong the Xbox One will sell more then 80 million!

Only@Da Union tm

To early to say but yes the one is selling better than the 360 did at this point in its life.

I do not think he realizes that everything thus far is contrary to his flawed suppositions. It is one thing to suggest the idea that that the X1 might fall off over the coming years, but it is another entirely to ignore the factual info at hand and to state it will be a failure with such stubborn conviction.

Again?? MS have finished 2nd and 2nd and are currently......2nd.
pffft, losers. Unless they break into the top 3 they need to gift it already....

It doesn't sell well outside the US so it should close shop and layoff everyone? This goes for majority of North American products in reality I'm guessing?

Going off this Sony should have just killed themselves last gen or done a SEGA.

You meant MS

No Sony. Going from an all time High first with the PS2 to last with the PS3. The way you act in regards to MS Sony should have just called it a day.

Seriously you are typing s*** right now.

Based on total consoles sold last gen (from figures already posted in this thread):

1. Wii
2. 360
3. PS3

And based on current sales worlwide for this gen (from figures already posted in this thread)

1. PS4
2. Xbox One
3. Wii U

I don't know the order of the PS2, Xbox and Nintendo from that gen. But I know that the Xbox was like 25 million sold, PS2 was like 150 million sold.

So we know MS has been in second place 2 out of 3 for sure so far.
