Reports of PS4 hardware issues.

It's okay. I have this!

What's the issue?

It just powers down randomly. Never seems to do it when I'm playing a game, though. I'll go to the Store or Live from Playstation, and it flickers and shuts down. Then I get the blue light pulsing for a few hours and it won't even boot to safe mode. I've checked all of the power and hard disk connections. When I've been able to get to the safe boot menu, I've rebuilt the database and and even reinitialized (wiped out and reinstalled all software). Fortunately, I can eject my game and Sony is sending a coffin. While I'm bummed, it's better now than a year from now after the warranty is expired!

The only issue I've had is that my PS4 doesn't want to be shut off. When I power the PS4 down from the XMB, it shuts down then starts right back up.

Mr Kipling?

Oh, my. I have never seen working class Brit angst expressed against Kipling so.....colorfully. You know, apologist for the British Empire, and all that. (Except for that little misunderstanding in 1776, I never really saw much of anything to apologize for.)

So, ummm, taking a little break from the Spotted DIck...

I called Sony last Saturday and my repair box arrived FedEx Tuesday. Tuesday night I received an email that my repair box was on its way. Ummm, okay, thanks, I guess... (I'd already dropped my PS4 back at FedEx at that point.) Sony's online status check never works and the 800 number never can give me an update either. Every night since Tuesday, I receive an email that my repair box is on its way. I spoke to customer service today and they told me they have my PS4 but their tracking system is experiencing issues. Duh! Just thought it all was kind of funny. Hopefully I'll get my PS4 back next week.

Got my PS4 back yesterday. Total turnaround time just under 2 weeks from when I first contacted Sony. Not bad at all. So I'm finally back to Infamous SS.

Sony sent me a brand new system in box but had removed the controller, cables, and paperwork. I had a 1.5 TB HD waiting so I installed it right away. One annoying thing is that you can't copy your saves from online storage until you install the game. But everything was pretty easy except being patient for 2 weeks. One other thing is that I couldn't deactivate my original PS4 before sending it in, so I had to contact support yesterday; they took care of it in minutes.

Overall great job by Sony support. Glad that's over.

Necro bump.

Anyone else have the issue with random disk ejecting? I hadn't turned my console on in several days, and it randomly turned itself on, ejected the disk, then went into rest mode. I looked into it, and it seems to be an issue for some due to one of the rubber feet actually touching the eject button. I partially pulled the rubber foot out and trimmed it back to where it wouldn't contact the button anymore. It hasn't happened since and it happened on the hottest day of the year so far, so hopefully that was the cause of it.

I haven't had this happen. But I am curious...how does a rubber footing of the PS4 get anywhere near the eject button?

Edit: I just remembered why this hasn't happened to me. I have never had a disk in my PS4. Blonde moment for me.

Only very minor issues with my PS4. Like it not being completely level (fixed with a couple of playing cards) and the system fan when gaming is just loud in comparison to PC and Xbox One

It can happen whether a disk is in it or not...it'll just beep 3 times if the problem happens. Mine would beep just touching anywhere on the bottom of t)e console. Those thing rubber feet actually go up inside of the console in a small groove that is in the same groove as the eject button. I guess the heat expanded the rubber on mine and starts pushing up against it. What a terrible design flaw.

Now I understand what you are saying. I hope that isn't a fire hazard?

Sounds like its overheating for some reason.....
That's horrible do you have the extended warranty?
Call sony up and be careful and watchful while playing.
