Ah, Quantum Break. Really good AAA game that was undeserving of the bad reviews. Graphics, music, voice-acting, story were all top-notch. While i criticized the gameplay early on (first impressions, felt it was serviceable/good-not-great), it grew on me a lot, especially on the second/third play-throughs. This isn't a knock on the game -- I found QB's gameplay to be more of a vehicle to move the excellent story along, whereas it's usually the opposite in games. And I LOVED the integration of the TV episodes, which were done very well -- more like that, please. This game cries out for a sequel.
Only two knocks on QB, and then I'm out: 1) too much reading (optional, yes, but still annoying); and 2) the boss fight at the end, which was criminally bad.
I thought the reviews overall were fair, as long as you take out the top and bottom 10% or so. What is worse is the stigma attached to the game. You'd think it was an utter flop, when really it was pretty good all around. But it got good reviews
some, yes. with about a 75 aggregate between the Xbox/PC reviews, which is a decent score. It's a better game than that, but unfortunately it got giantbombed by the likes of the big Giant Bomb himself, Jeff Gerstmann. Reviews like his "40" of QB are just intellectually dishonest, done for click bait. But it got good reviews
Gamespot also bombed it (as their typical Xbox reviews go save Forza).some, yes. with about a 75 aggregate between the Xbox/PC reviews, which is a decent score. JEFF GERTSMANN, YOU SUCK!! Thank you for letting me vent my frustration.

i think there was only one 100 review, and quite honestly, and objectively, QB is a whole lot closer to a 100 than a 40, so you can reason that perfect score.Yeah but that is typical for games in that range. Its obviously not a 40 but its not a 100 either and nobody is complaining about those.
Still one of the best time travel stories around. The game was great.
I've really enjoyed what I've played so far. Think im near the end but my lazyness has stopped me from finishing it.
I think its about 85 for me, just missing that epicness that u expect from a 90+ game.
loved the TV show aspect really brought the story together.
I think in the end it got caught up in fan boy wars when gfx mattered, it should have been delayed till now when checker boarding is the new cool thing.
The only real major issue I had was the TV episodes. They were awful. A 77 review average sounds about right to me though.
I loved Max Payne and Alan Wake but I found it a bit disappointing overall.
No doubt. Quantum Break was awesome and i'd kill for a sequel. Unfortunately the less than stellar reviews were accurate. At first, i thought it was part of the anti-Xbox agenda that the media seems to have at times, then i thought about it. If gamers and reviewers are going to dock PS4 exclusives like Uncharted 4 for being movie like games then you have to dock points on a game that has an actual TV show in the game.
It's only fair. I mean, Uncharted 4 was what.. a 93 on Metacritic? If Naughty Dog focused more on the game instead of the Michael Bay movie moments it would have easily hit 98 on the scale. One of those times where the egg blows back at you in the wind. You can't bash PS exclusives for being movie like games and then say Quantum Break deserved a higher score when it literally was a TV show at times.
Literally sounds like two different mind sets. I don't know which to take seriously. How da fuq is a game "Awesome and would kill for a sequel", but in the same breath its, "Unfortunate the less than stellar reviews were accurate?!" Da fuq is going on up in hur? Is this where we're at now? lol
I think it's just opinions. I don't really buy the idea that reviewers as a whole under-rate games just because they are Xbox exclusives.
I do think expectations play a large role, though. If anything, QB was a victim of inflated expectations. It was a highly advertised, very hyped AAA exclusive 5 years in development from an acclaimed studio. We all judge things relative to our expectations, and reviewers' expectations were very high. It could be a good game, but if it doesn't live up to expectations, it's going to feel disappointing, and the scores will reflect that.
Likewise, playing it now with lowered expectations (which you are likely to have, after years of hearing that it is an average game) is going to make the experience more enjoyable.
Having said that, though, I'm glad you're enjoying it. I always like that experience of discovering that some game that got average reviews is actually really enjoyable.
Not as a whole. But there are definitely outlier reviews at times that just make you scratch your head.
Can't you say that of any game, though?
Yes...but your outliers shouldn't be the biggest sites in the business. Reading the reviews again still leaves me scratching my head. Even if QB doesn't strike a cord with someone personally, I don't know what universe these guys are playing games in that makes it a 60% relative to the way they score other things.
I read your post, genius. Did you? Clearly Remedy STRATEGICALLY created a game with a television show, you know, seeing as how they went live action and there's FOUR FUKING EPISODES, you knob. And no, your statement made no sense to me whatsoever seeing as you praised the game and then said the low review scores were accurate. Did you even play the game? Seeing as Uncharted 4 used In engine visuals, and QB used live action television episodes - how the fuk do you even make a comparison between the two? The smart money says - you don't.Well if you read the rest of the post and processed it instead of just getting triggered and firing off a rebuttal then it might make sense to you. Then again, you're team green and anything that puts Xbox into a negative light in your mind is instantly discarded. That's okay, i'll live without your love rating that you hand out like candy to Kvally, Sasquatch, and the other bots whenever someone drools over Xbox.

.
Who were the outliers, besides Gerstmann?
Hmm... What does "level headed" look like with SPD? Inquiring minds want to know. GTFO.Name calling? Get mad, Marty. Not only did i play the game but i got all 1,000 gamerscore, unlike you. That's right, I'm a bigger Xbox fan than you apparently. Must be why i can form a more level headed opinion on the brand.
What would be convincing evidence would be if you could show a pattern of Gerstman or Gamespot (or whatever site) consistently rating Xbox exclusives significantly lower than the average metacritic score for that same game
