Geoff Keighly owes me 2 hours of sleep. What a bastard.

1AAA game and indies/known quantities.

I knew it.

There were a few cool trailers. Death Stranding, Witchwire, GTFO, and Metro were all cool. I was hoping Dreams had a better showing, though. I hope MS realised how not present they were...

That orchestra though. Mario Odyssey theme song ftw. The blonde and the brunette cello player. f*** game reveals, that's what an award show should be. Celebrate the devs hard work.

These kinds of shows are 99% junk.

I started watching when that boring blowhard Andrew House rambled on stage for his award. So I don't know what happened before that part. But from that point on the best part of the show was the combo of the hot Asian orchestra member, combined with the blonde singer. Second best was the trailer of GTFO.

They did get major shoutouts/praise by the cuphead devs... but seriously where’s my Halo 6 trailer

I don't mind these shows are junk. I mind him showing up on certain forums and acting like he's got full house when he's only got a low pair.

WTF were people expecting? This show was significantly better than Sony and Microsofts E3 conferences last year. Geoff did an awesome job this year. Best award show he's done yet.

I don't understand this take at all. Do you remember last E3? He just wiped the floor with Sonys showing. That's fairly impressive.

Sadly that's his job. He's a paid promoter so he'll say anything to hype up a show in hopes tons of people watch. I'm sure he can spin a 10 year old YT trailer into "something you've never seen before!".

Once a Dorito Pope, always a Dorito Pope.

Anything for a buck.

Soul Caliber VI. Maybe Bay 3 too. At a stretch 1.5. AAA. Depends on the production values.

Well I will give you that I guess. From's game would be #3 but since it wasn't really a reveal I wouldn't really count it.

Well why wouldn't he hype up his own show?

If you're going to hype something up, at least hype up something good.

Don't get me wrong. That's the point of marketing and trying to make a buck. But backing it up would be great.

I'm sure whichever company makes the most stale candy at a dollar shop will try to convince people their rancid jelly beans tastes great. But let's have some ethics here.

Well its getting better every year. It used to be a complete train wreck. I have no idea what he said to hype the reveals but they were fine.

I agree with this.

E3's and these Awards shows are getting more professional. Needs another 4-5 years of polish as half the hosts and people on stage bumble words and are unprepared.

I don't think I've ever seen an interpreter read pre-canned English answers off a crib sheet.

Production values are pretty good.

Can you list off a few better video game shows/press conferences this year? I'd like to see what you think is good.

It's an awards show. They're real people, who might mess up from time to time. Just because they make video games doesn't mean they're not every day people. It's not a press briefing at the white house.

But let's continue to pretend you're not making fun of the Japanese developers who put themselves out there when English isn't their first language. Or the other presenters with an accent.

I don't remember any video game conference being top tier. Game shows are amateur in hosts and presentations. The best part is that the production values are getting pretty good (assuming it works and doesn't have audio issues).

But if you want me to pick something this year, I'd say just about every E3 conference show I saw (I didn't watch all of them) were better than this show.

Not at all. Actually, the Nintendo guys were full of heart, especially the last guy who was extra cheery.

But thanks for assumption that smacked you back in the face TD. lol

So it was literally the best show of the year.

Way to go Geoff Keighley! Hyping up the best video game show in one of the largest entertainment industries on planet earth this year.

His mother must be disgusted...

Zelda winning game of year was well deserved. Happy to see Cuphead win Indy game. Kinda feel bad for Hollow Knight though as it looks excellent.

No, Microsoft's E3 where the only audience pop was the announcement of a 14 year old game Crimson Skies coming through BC was the show of the year by far. Keighley had nothing to match that.

He was talking about production and presentation, but go ahead, let it all out again...

I tuned in a couple times but only watched a little.

I checked the award winners. Happy to see Melina Jeurgens win for best voice actor. I don't know if people know the story, but she was just intended to be a stand-in until they found a real actress -- sort of a place-holder. She didn't have any acting experience. But she did such a good job of it, they decided to use her. It's such a hard role to play well. She has a history of trauma, and she called on that to help with her performance. Some of her cries of pain are soul-wrenching; you just know they're coming from a real place.

The production and presentation was the best we've ever seen, lol. If you want to argue that there wasn't enough game reveals and surprises then be my guest, but also acknowledge why. Because Microsoft showed nothing but go ahead, turn a blind eye again...

I mean, Sony has an excuse for not showing much. We've got PSX coming this weekend. What's Microsoft's excuse? They don't have one. This was their chance to hype people up, but i guess they don't do that like Sony does, right. I'm sure the megatons are coming at E3, so i'll wait patiently as i have been.

I like how you glance past the production in presentation part, which is what he was talking about, and get back to the fanboy s***.
