I like how you glance past the production in presentation part, which is what he was talking about, and get back to the fanboy s***.

Read the last page or two. Sasquatch complained that the show was crap because it was hyped up and there wasn't enough surprise reveals and then Intelly chimed in and said yeah, these shows are always crap. It's just to make a buck. Then Intelly later goes on to stealth bash the presenters for English not being their first language.

Two Xbox fanboys, who didn't get their megaton from Microsoft so instead of just saying it was a decent show they say it sucked. It could have been better, and we all know how. Had nothing to do with Sony/Nintendo/Keighley or English not being people's first language. Just calling a spade a spade. Hey, you can't accuse me of being a fanboy. I just shelled out another $500 for a console lacking first party games. That's more than some people can say.

Absolute BS.

Show me the post where I made fun of non-English speaking people at the show. If you read my posts, I made fun of the unprepared interpreter who read the pre-canned English responses from his notes. The guy didn't even translate what was spoken on stage. He already had the English answers on paper.

I also made note of people at award shows generally being unprepared (which I've made that same claim years back). You always get some weird stuff at game conferences. And this show was no different. You got the women reading a speech off a cell phone. The interpreter reading translations off cue cards, hosts that bumble lines, and presenters who bumble words too.

And I only saw maybe half the show.

And as I said, I only watched some of the show, which I thought was crap from when I started watching.... which was Andrew House who has to be among the worst video game suits on stage. He always rambles on.

I actually clicked Rollin's link that recapped the entire show and still didn't see much worth noting. Much of the games were indies or already known games, with a handful of new announcements. Woop-dee-do. If you think this is a great show, no problem. Your opinion.

The best stuff I saw (aside from the Asian cello player and blonde singer) was GTFO (a new preview vid based on a game already announced with an older vid), and from Rollin's link that EA guy who started swearing about EA and lootboxes.

Next time don't turn a Game Show thread into console wars.

But don't worry. We all know your schtick on this forum.

It looks like they promoted PUBG a bunch of times according to the link. Does it make you feel better that I didn't care one bit for any of the bits? It's an Xbox game after all for the time being on consoles.

Relax.

Okay, you cleared that up. My apologies.

Where do you see console wars though? You guys bashed the show for not having enough reveals when Sony had one and Nintendo had one. If Microsoft carried their weight and showed something, anything, it would have been decent. But yeah, i agree when you have to carry all the weight it leaves much to be desired. This show confirmed that Phil's new billion dollar investment in new IPs are still 2-3 years off because Microsoft only shows games that are 1 year out. Nothing coming next holiday besides Horizon 4 i guess. That's all i'm saying.

Don't care about console wars in this thread. If you want console war opinions, maybe Andy or PL can unlock one of those old console war threads.

As for this show in particular about Sony, Ninty and MS showings, who knows what are why they show what they show. Some of those games shown are $10 indie games, yet it gets its 5 or 10 minutes of fame when there's clearly lots more bigger budget and better selling games out there.

Maybe all the big name companies clam up on purpose. Or maybe Geoff K gets tons of companies banging down his door to show more footage of FIFA 18 and CoD WWII. But he purposely says no, but instead shows a game called Valley in the Woods (whatever it's called).

But then suddenly a big name game like PUBG gets plugged twice (which I saw). Devs promote a new map and 1.0, and MS follows it with an ad with people jumping out with parachutes.

Yeah, maybe they're just cowards like you claimed Sony was cowardly when they wouldn't announce sales last gen but have yet to call Microsoft out for this gen. But i hear you, we don't need console wars in this thread so we'll leave it at that. Tonight was a night to celebrate the devs hard work, but quickly turned into a s*** on Keighley and presenters thread. Just don't understand that.

If Sony has nothing at PSX i'll rightly call them out as well but the fact that Microsoft doesn't have another show coming up until E3 makes it seem like they missed an opportunity to show something at the game awards. A 30 second teaser would have been fine for one of those billion dollar IPs in the works. Gamers forgave them for showing early and canceling games before so why not have something to show if you have it.

ResetEra seems to have a generally positive impression of the Awards show. Some people will complain about everything. Keighley did an outstanding job.

Yeah, but just the same, there are people on resetera complaining about things as well, even in the 'Mad props to Geoff' thread. No need to pretend everything is perfect, like Geoff said: "Keep me honest". I'm sure he'll be rewatching and taking notes on areas to improve as well.

Not sure why you would take two people that weren't impressed and try to make it into a big deal though; it seems the vast majority of people enjoyed it everywhere people are commenting.

For me it was a good show.

1. Deathstranding New Trailer
2. Bloodborne 2 or New IP reveal
3. Soul Calibour 6! (Coming 2018!)
4. Beyonette 3
5. Dreams (Coming 2018!)
6. Metro New Trailer
7. A Way Out (funny as hell showing)
8. Zelda Breath of the Wild DLC

I thought that was the best production video game award shows I've seen. Well done Geoff.

Best part of the night was "that guy". I loved it, especially because the EA execs and Hollywood hated it.

So it was literally the best show of the year.

I think that goes to Nintendos January Switch unveiling.

New Mario
New Hardware

Im sure there were other things

Geoff was showing up at resetera challenging people with "i look forward to seeing your reaction after the show" who said that their won't be a lot of major announcements and it would be mostly indies and known quantities. Which it absolutely was.

If you don't care for indies or games we knew of already it was weak as hell.

Metro Exodus
Dreams
New From Software Game
Soul Caliber VI
Witchfire
GTFO

The show was loaded with meaningful world exclusives from AAA games.

You defended MS E3 show and they didn't reveal anything so now only new AAA reveals matter?

Soul Caliber VI

Thats it.

I don't count those 40+ indies they had and neither did anyone else, they had Forza, Ori 2 and Luckys Tail and after Gamescom PUBG, Age of Empires 4 and those crap kinect ports. Nor do we count stuff already known.

So in all

PUBG (only cos it sells)
Forza
Ori

The rest don't count.

PUBG wasn't announced then but I don't know why Ori "counts" when Bayonetta 3 doesn't.

It's an awards show. They're real people, who might mess up from time to time. Just because they make video games doesn't mean they're not every day people. It's not a press briefing at the white house.

But let's continue to pretend you're not making fun of the Japanese developers who put themselves out there when English isn't their first language. Or the other presenters with an accent.
It's why I prefer this over the crap that the Oscars are. The last think I want is for it to be some fake, overproduced, soulless focus-group endeavor. It's geek culture, let's keep it that way.

You'll notice something with your list there. No MS exclusives. There is your answer as to why it was a bad show.

Meh, your opinion seems to be from left field. I think

Yeah, I was starting to pick up on that vibe too.

Sea of Thieves and PUBG were there. I don't really consider a new map and a release date for games we know about major announcements.

IMO only Nintendos first party had an announcement of value. New game.

I was more disappointed in the lack of a new DMC (which Geoff seemed to indicate would be there), Batman, Bethesda and Playground Games other game and all the other stuff I haven't thought of.

Well that's fine by me. You will find im consistant in my affections.

I actually got an email from Sea of Thieves today about a closed beta. Never did get in their alpha or whatever they called it but looks like anyone that was an Insider will be invited for the closed beta, so that is nice.

So, is this Bloodborn 2?

What's the consensus here?

Obviously it could be Dark Souls, with the whole die twice line it kind of makes sense but something about the bone, rope turning into the metal.. the sound kind of reminded me the sound it makes when you whip out your blade.

After seeing the new trailer I'm convinced that the only gameplay involved in Death Stranding will be pressing X button to proceed to the next bizarre cinematic.
I think Kojima's done too many hits of acid and has lost it.
