May has gotta be the month. Production starts in June.

It seems strange that PS4 started production in early September and PS5 is supposedly starting in June but they are planning on making fewer consoles? something doesn't add up there IMO. I can't say that article was wrong but just going by how things were done in the past it would seem that the production start date isn't really June or that they may be making more consoles than the writer would have us believe.

This is exactly why I found their ‘deep dive’ a little off. The SSD is cool, but since MS already showed a lot of their specs, why not spend more time saying ‘yup, we’ve got that too.’ Or something like that.

If you’ve got it, say it and/or show it, especially after your competition showed most of their hand.

Sony are generally genius marketers, so the presentation left me thinking they spent so much time on the SSD and audio because those are their major strong points. The stuff they didn’t mention or glossed over makes me think they don’t have it, or that particular aspect can’t compete.

That assumption could be entirely wrong, but in your first public presentation, why wouldn’t you just flaunt it if you’ve got it??

Sony is not Microsoft and Microsoft is not Sony. Sony doesn't NEED to do anything. They know what they've got. Just because someone remains humble doesn't mean that they are scared or unprepared; they just arent the center of their attention. Just about every discussion that comes up do the competition feels the need to bring Sony's name up in reference to what they have or are doing. That shows me one thing and one thing only: Sony is constantly on their minds and they are seen as very big threat.

"Humble". That's quite presumptuous.

I still think they'll hold an event(digital) in late July where most question will get answered and pre-orders will begin. My hypothesis is that the console itself will be harder to find than a launch window Nintendo Wii given their alleged supply issues. Pre-orders will dry up in a matter of hours if not minutes.

Call it what you like, but it's true. Sony's response has been very relaxed compared to their competition. I'm not sure whether it's short term memory or just a lack of attention, but every single generation do i see this same approach play out time and again. That's not to imply that the tables can't turn, but more along the lines of them constantly being underestimated due to them having a more conservative approach. There is good reason they've survived on top for as long as they have. It wasn't just given to them; it was taken. You can't do that unless you are well prepared.

So, they will show their hand when they are ready.
