Pretty awesome mock up, not realistic at all but awesome lol.
That looks like something that would break a lot to me. Moving parts in a controller like that? How would the widening grips even function? That threading would cost 300 dollars.

They say this stuff every generationHyperbolic quotes like "compromises will be a thing of the past" are an attempt at marketing and mean nothing. It's literally false. There's will always be compromises based on prioritization. That said, the I/O throughput was a major bottleneck this gen. As was the CPU. The floor has been lifted on those things significantly. According to some devs, CPU may still be the biggest bottleneck. Once you stream in all those assets, they aren't worth much more than prettier replacements for the cardboard cutouts if you can't do anything dynamic with them. This is why devs consistently stress balance. What's considered "balanced" depends on what type of game you are trying to make.
I think I'm coming to the opinion that both Microsoft and Sony nailed what they were going for. They had different priorities. Sony's were around leveraging what their 1st party studios do best while aiming to keep their BoM below Microsoft's. It's the easier system to develop for with the biggest user base. This will help them negotiate exclusives and if those exclusives prioritize graphics over frame rate or dynamic environments, they can continue to have a better looking lineup.

Exactly. You get to see more/better stuff than you would without it, they can push the visuals more since they only have to focus on what you can see but yeah that's just an improvement on what we have now, what they do with that in any other ways remains to be seen.
Not the kind of games I want from Sony.
Did for me, by a lot. It's why they didn't handily win in the exclusive department this generation.
Rabid fanboys......and their death threats.....would expect them.....or else......That is kind of a stupid point by him. Who would expect 38 exclusives?
.Sony knows their bread and butter is single player story driven games, I don't think they'll shy away from that as it's been a huge success for them this gen, they've had many games sell over 10 million copies. That doesn't mean that some studios can't put smaller teams on trying to make other content, I rarely play MP games but if they are able to add something for others to play without it impacting the quality and volume of the single player games I like it doesn't bother me. Most of their studios have been growing, San Diego added another team, I believe insomniac has two going, GG has been growing, Santa Monica has been doing a lot of hiring etc.
Their strategy is a lot different from Microsoft. Their (Sony) platform is targeting immersion.
Some solid games there! I want to know more about Battlefield especially.
