Sony isn't just shooting for hardware with great looking games, though.

Their strategy is a lot different from Microsoft. There is a REASON the DualSense was announced before the specs of the console, and it wasn't because Sony felt like they were out gunned here; it's just not the main focus of their next console. Their platform is targeting immersion. To put this into perspective, the PSP didn't lose out based on a lack of titles to the DS; it lost out based on HOW those titles were design for the platform.

Not that serious, I just posted it because he had scans and I didn't feel like reuploading.

"Sony's PS5 could use artificial intelligence to configure game soundtracks that will dynamically adjust to the way you are playing and to your emotions when gaming. ... The idea is the music will further trigger feelings within a player and help make for a more engaging experience. "

wholy crap

"Sony has championed how its next-generation console will have a 3D audio processing unit to deliver more immersive sound. So there’s a chance that this AI tech could find its way into the PS5. And having such audio tech could be one way to put Microsoft’s Xbox Series X on the back foot."

Don't get that the point of this. The games score is already targeting this.

You're right, it's not, but it helps to put things into perspective. :)

Don't get me wrong, graphics are going to be GREAT next-gen - Sony knows this just as much as Microsoft so there will be no slouching in this department. But based on where gaming is currently going, though, graphics is headed towards a wall. I also elaborated on this a few pages back. There is only so much you can keep doing with them before you start playing the same prettier game over again. From the 2D to 3D era, graphics was the main talk of the town since it is what separated the experience from one platform to the other, so that was fine, but now gaming is moving towards a new era (immersion). Sony and Nintendo sees this just as much as the PC market. Back then, though, if a game came to the PS2, Game Cube or Xbox, it was easy to simply go with the platform that looked a little better as the experience was basically the same if that platform had the same game. Today's era now depends on innovation/immersion as horsepower could simply come from a better version of the same platform later on - ala Xbox One X and PlayStation Pro. So this battlefront becomes irrelevant. It's much harder to catch innovation, though without hurting your entire user base, which is why i used the PSP and Nintendo DS. Sony's platform is shooting for immersion, which includes, tempest engine, VR and DualSense (i feel the SSD will play a pretty big role in its own way) while Microsoft isn't.

The marketing of these two platforms speaks volumes

....which tells me the experiences won't be the same.

They the same thing about that Nintendo pulse monitor and the connects IR camera. The concept of changing gameplay/score based on biometric data has been around. Not sure what good it is, as as a developer, should you be trying to feel a specific way rather than react to you. Sounds like back door data collection to me.

What are these games?
Pretty much every game ever created. That is the whole point of the score.

Using biometrics is a terrible idea. Iit has no way to know if you're feeling a certain way because of the game or because of life.

Nope not the way this could do it.
What do you mean no. Lol.

A games music is specifically targeting and curated for a specific game, scene, emotion, etc. That it is the whole idea of this patent...except they wanna do it dynamically.

The titles will feature in a presentation of just over an hour at 1pm Pacific Time, 4pm Eastern Time and 9pm UK time.

PlayStation says that the digital event will be the first in a series of updates, and that there will be more to share beyond next week's presentation. The Future of Gaming showcase will be streamed via Twitch and YouTube.

sooooooooo, had TLoU2 and GoT been released earlier they’d not been backwards compatible?

It means it wouldn't be mandatory. I think there is no chance they are not BC though. It would look terrible. They are actually not in the mandatory window as they would be submitted before that time.

Last we heard from Sony was overwhelming majority would work.

But now we are hearing something else.
