the bottom line is many of these social and internet giant hold monopoly and influences, and influence =power and this power can be abuse to push their agenda and we should be just as wary.

Social media companies don't steer people. They show the person exactly what they want to see. People are flawed, so are their social media feeds.

My twitter feed is boring, filled with sports and video games. There's zero drama. Twitter of Facebook don't show me crazy conspiracy stuff. I follow AP and Reuters, so I get real, actual news, not nonsense. I'm a boring person with common sense, middle of the road beliefs, so my feed is painfully boring.

The problem is that people don't know how the algorithms work, and don't understand the confirmation bias. If you plug "flat earth" into Facebook, you'll find all sorts of people who make it look like this is a real thing and not just nutty. They don't understand that the algorithm is finding every bit if info and hitting them with it. They say "everyone on my Facebook feed agrees with me" and that's the problem. Of course everyone on your feed agrees with you, that's why they are on your feed to begin with. You put a bunch of stupid people in a group, and they're going to come to stupid conclusions.

What social media does is allow the crazies to get together virtually and reinforce each other's stupidity. Social media wants to give you exactly what you want to hear, and that's the problem.

You made some good observation. Social media like Twitter does steer generally to what you want to see, base on algorithms, & who you like to follow, as you said end up with people who agree with you creating a echo chamber where people think their view is widespread, norm, since everyone agree & affirm each other etc.

Anyway I have barely been on twitter for a long time, & facebook for years, & I am happy for it. I think there is a study that said 50% of high traffic retweet & tweets on twitter were smear/attack/heat arguments. Thats all you need to know about twitter.

I am glad though there are brave warriors here that are willing to dive through the cesspool to dig out gaming news here..

But I think this is getting off topic, so I will stop here on this point.

I agree, you just have to be able to weed out the noise on Twitter. It's a double edged sword, lots of heated arguments but also one of quickest ways to spread news as a lot of reputable sources use it to publish their articles as soon as it's released. Also pretty cool to see the inner thoughts of people working in the gaming industry.

It isn't hard to weed out the noise on Twitter. I just follow people I want to and I rarely read the comments. I have every post collapsed by default so I don't even see them. I barely interact at all beyond the occasional "like". My Twitter feed is quite drama free. You can easily avoid social media drama without avoiding it all together.

Even for video games, I rarely even see the relative "drama" of the console wars. Just mostly positive people talking about video games.

Too many people see something they don't like and feel compelled to shout it down. Just unfollow and block. No need for cancel culture or anything, just take them off your feed and problem solved.

"My understanding is that Sony rules with an iron fist with their partners and they can be — this will surprise nobody — arrogant sometimes," Tom says. Throughout our interview, it is clear that secrecy is the crux of Sony's PlayStation operations. "Sony values secrecy more than Microsoft, or — at the very least — they act like they care more." That can make it very hard to get exact details out of the factories and offices where the products are made and designed, but it does give us plenty more to discuss. Please, bear in mind that Tom stresses that much of these details are applicable to the "Xbox Series X 2023 Edition. This isn't me hyping up PlayStation — Xbox is [also] working on a refresh."

“We're already hard at work on new hardware and platforms, some of which won't come to light for years. But even as we build for the future, we're focused on extending the Xbox experience to more devices today so we can reach more people."

Hey guys! We can't get enough PS5 or XSX's made for people to buy so let's try releasing a 3rd SKU each to really slow things down!

We're selling out now, so if we make another SKU, we'll be selling out of both!

Maybe if they could just leave EA behind and roll back about a decade and a half to when they were among the best in the business, that would be great.
They can return to glory, but I doubt EA is why they have Fallen over the years.

how many years were Anthem in development. How is is not clear the novelty of being Ironman will wear off, & poorly designed loot system will make people quit.

As someone who work as a developer in automotive, the way the game development lack of concept of time and delivers finish product is unthinkable in my industry.

Considering the prices the PS5 and Xbox X/S are at now, imagine what the prices would be for the upgraded consoles.
