Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi; Ewan McGregor Returns (An Old Hope) - 2022

No. For the most part people have this impossible "Star Wars" standard in their heads that never existed. As if any of the originals didn't have massive plot holes, caricature characters, etc. No show is going to take us back to our childhoods. Things like the prequels were just bad, to the point of being meme worthy. After that things have been a lot better. Far from perfect when it comes to the later movies, but still great to see Star Wars back on the screen.

The last planet was really cool (with the cyberpunk vibes). This one is desolate, and that's where much of the entire story has ever taken place. I'm also pretty sure they were going for the dark vibe for obvious reasons. People hated them doing entire scenes in front of green screens, now the real sets aren't good enough either. Maybe they should have fought on the deck of a spaceship? Or an ocean? Or in front of a giant sand dinosaur? Or in front of a melting platform in lava? People also blasted the characters for a chase through buildings too so that's wrong too I guess?

One things the prequels showed is that less CGI is often better. That scene is about two characters and it doesn't need a thing added to it to give it any kind of importance.

Plus I blast them when shows are lacking any kind of depth. Boba Fett was an obvious example of filler to keep subs going. That show served no purpose and was just mindless filler that wasn't even good filler. It was obvious they threw enough Mando in there to keep people interested. It was one of their few real clunkers. This show has already given me a couple really epic Star Wars moments to add to all the rest.
I agree that Star Wars has been bad as much as its been good and people act like when its bad it ruins their childhood but that being ridiculous doesn't mean its time to lower expectations beyond normal shows or movies.

They started in a desolate planet but the series didn't stay there. That is a problem given that you have a huge universe and you decided to spend significant type of boring desert planets. Real sets are great but real sets can be bad too. Its also just straight up shot poorly.

You don't need lots of CG to make something feel like space or alien. The show shouldn't look like it was filmed in your backyard.

Boba Fett at least has the sand people flash back that at least tells a story. Too much of all the shows is dependent on fan service and Baby Yoda doing something cute. I don't get criticism of Boba Fett having no depth if that complain doesn't apply to Mandalorian. But that is ok I don't need Mandalorian to be deep. Its fun and it has good production value. Obi Wan looks like you something you used to find it on SYFY.

The internet and Star Wars nerds need to take a chill pill. The show is good. The main bad character is fine. A cookie cutter bad guy in Star Wars without a lot of depth? She fits right in with what happened last episode.
Yeah, they are drip-feeding her story. She's obviously one of the Jedi younglings in the opening scene, for starters... I also love that they are competing for Vader's approval.

I have been enjoying it. Better than the mediocre and filler Boba Fett.

Looking forward to ep 4.

This is one of the most poorly written, directed, and acted Disney Plus shows I've seen, and I've watched a couple of the Marvel series. It's like every episode becomes more and more unbelievable and ridiculous. It feels like this was made exclusively by and for the most casual of Star Wars fans who don't really know or remember much of anything about the characters or story that's happened in prior entries. The reshot trash of Han Solo seriously felt like it had better direction and care for the source material than this. I'm in awe of anyone who has watched all 4 episodes and is actually enjoying this.

Solo was forgettable and a very unnecessary movie but it is a different league compared to this.

They seemed to have put all their production value and talent into making Star Wars: Andor a show absolutely zero people asked for

The only positive thing I can say about this show is at least the episodes are short.

how high wtf GIF

What does this show have against people running

Not to nitpick, but

the hanger was filled with tie fighters at the start of the scene, but they have nothing but a box to throw at the escaping ships?

Nobody asked for Rogue One, and it is the best Star Wars movie.

I'm enjoying it. Looking forward to ep 5.

I watched the first 2 and put on Love Death Robots. Dont know if I will finish this.

I am very disappointed with Obi Wan. It’s just really bad in so many aspects. I don’t think anyone can honestly say it’s good. Just stupid things like Obi Wan getting out of the water then bone dry a second later, that hiding under trench coat scene, slapping a storm trooper, the laser gate checkpoint you could just walk around, Obi Wan finding it hard to use force to move a small object then using it to hold back galleons of water, which then bursts through all the windows when only one was weakened. There is so much more I could complain about, I don’t normally get negative about stuff like this, but I was so looking forward to this series and it could have been epic, when it’s turned out below average.

Maybe they will make up for it with the duel of the century in the last episode……..ain’t holding my breath.

I can definitely see the criticism regarding the lol logic of ie having a military checkpoint that you literally could drive around, but still....I really enjoy the show this far. Having sat through ep1 to 3 before watching this and the nostalgia is real.
Also, go Hayden Go!

This week's episode had some great scenes. I still wish it felt more cinematic, but the writing, acting, and photography don't quite live up to that level.

I agree. Ep5 was best yet, still some wonky stuff in there but def the best so far. That doesn’t mean the show is good, just this episode had a couple cool moments.
I really hope they pull out the stops and make the last episode epic, we shall see…..
