Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi; Ewan McGregor Returns (An Old Hope) - 2022

The obvious wire work for the inquisitor was also really bad, it looked like they recorded the first rehearsals or something.

Chase scenes were laughably bad, Inquisitors and especially the girl they focus on are lame as s***, but the tease of Vader at the end of two was cool.

First episode was really intriguing but I just felt like the second episode was not very good at all.

Also, lack of Dave Filoni is kind of depressing

I quite like the way the Inquistors are done actually. They very like the ones from Rebels which I thought was cool.

Okay maybe the Grand Inquisitor and the other ones are alright, the girl (can't remember her name) just isn't it for me, and her whole rooftop running scene was terrible lol

Yeah the chase scenes in Ep2 were just plain terrible. The (Home Alone) kid chase in the forest - poop, the kid chase in the market (seriously need a harness for her) - poop, the Inquisitor (pretending to be Batman) rooftop chase - poop with side of poop.

Yeah I agree. I really hope the action gets better. I know she is just a kid, but I ain’t a fan of young Leia. And I hope they don’t spend too much time focusing on her.

Opening fight scene set the bar, and now rest of it can’t keep up. Hopefully it will get better.

The black chic is getting a lot racist rhetoric thrown at her on social media. Ewan even posted a video addressing it.

I want to say I'm surprised but unfortunately I'm not.

McGregor is a great actor, which helps push this beyond the majority of Disney+ series in regards to connecting with the character, but there have already been far too many silly writing, direction, and budget choices. The entire last 5 or 10 minutes of this episode makes Vader and Obi-Wan's conversation in the original film make little to no sense. Everything relating to Leia has been terrible. Her writing, acting, everything has been both unbelievable and unlikeable.

We really need to stop having past series' characters appear in movies or shows. Move on to something new, stop watering down things we love and making an enormous galaxy constantly look and feel like California, stop having the same handful of characters appear and behave in completely anachronistic ways that lessens the impact of said characters in the original films. Disney finally got some Star Wars success with The Mandalorian and has chosen to go the exact same route that no one responded to positively with their movies with both Boba Fett and Obi-Wan.

I'm not sure how much more of this I really want to see.

Star Wars fans are too inconsistent with what they want is the problem. The Mandalorian is very entertaining but its high on fan service and low on story so its not a surprise that Disney continues to crank the fan service up to 11 while ignoring everything else

Ep 2 and 3 pretty disappointing. Give the fans what they want. The actress who plays Leia, I am sorry but weak. Every time she is running for her life but just looks like she is out for a Sunday jog 😂

like I said opening fight ep 1 was epic, so far nothing is coming close.

I doubt the girl doesn't know how to run so I don't blame her for that

The show seems like it has zero production value. Its like some fan made youtube video.

People coming after her like that are complete morons, if you don't like her performance or the character fine (I don't think her performance is particularly believable) but sending her hate messages let alone racist nonsense is beyond idiotic.

Thing is, I bet the director doesn’t like using stunt doubles and insists on the actors doing everything.

I have had this problem before, where an artist has a physical role but when casting they don’t take this into account. Just the acting side, then when it comes to any action they suddenly realise they are screwed lol.

But everything about this scene is bad and if that is the case its hard to blame the actors

The internet and Star Wars nerds need to take a chill pill. The show is good. The main bad character is fine. A cookie cutter bad guy in Star Wars without a lot of depth? She fits right in with what happened last episode.

I loved the Storm Trooper road block / checking station in the recent episode. You literally could have walked around it without going more than a few feet out of your way. Only required a simple blaster shot to get through. I had Star Wars toys in the '80's that looked more realistic.

Its only good if you lower your standards and while people expect too much from Star Wars they shouldn't how to lower their expectations compared to everything else on TV either.

The reality they are trying to coast off its name. They are doing the same with MCU shows but with a fanbase much less likely to accept whatever they are given no matter what.

Vader and Obi should be a massive moment instead they are plodding around between a couple piles of dirt in the dark in California. Why does this look so much worse than other sci fi shows like The Expanse or Raised By Wolves which have a fraction of the budget?

Really enjoying this show. Episode 3 was excellent.

Obi-Wan is a broken man and McGregor is going a great job portraying that.

No. For the most part people have this impossible "Star Wars" standard in their heads that never existed. As if any of the originals didn't have massive plot holes, caricature characters, etc. No show is going to take us back to our childhoods. Things like the prequels were just bad, to the point of being meme worthy. After that things have been a lot better. Far from perfect when it comes to the later movies, but still great to see Star Wars back on the screen.

The last planet was really cool (with the cyberpunk vibes). This one is desolate, and that's where much of the entire story has ever taken place. I'm also pretty sure they were going for the dark vibe for obvious reasons. People hated them doing entire scenes in front of green screens, now the real sets aren't good enough either. Maybe they should have fought on the deck of a spaceship? Or an ocean? Or in front of a giant sand dinosaur? Or in front of a melting platform in lava? People also blasted the characters for a chase through buildings too so that's wrong too I guess?

One things the prequels showed is that less CGI is often better. That scene is about two characters and it doesn't need a thing added to it to give it any kind of importance.

Plus I blast them when shows are lacking any kind of depth. Boba Fett was an obvious example of filler to keep subs going. That show served no purpose and was just mindless filler that wasn't even good filler. It was obvious they threw enough Mando in there to keep people interested. It was one of their few real clunkers. This show has already given me a couple really epic Star Wars moments to add to all the rest.
