2 of them, Psychonauts 2 and Forza Horizon 5 both reviewed higher than 2021's GOTY. Forza didn't even get nominated for GOTY despite reviewing better than all GOTY nominees.
Forza did get game of the year from some sites/publications. Yet they never gave an explanation why it didn’t…if it was cos of the release date then it got snubbed again for this year.

It didn't get the most which is the most important meta.

There's a panel of 100 members that do the nominees every year 🤔

True, but they didn’t set the rules, that it didn’t meet the cutoff date of November 8th, because it was released on the 9th. There were games panelist/journalists/critics who felt it should’ve had been eligible…kinda sus when you look at other November 9th released games, like this year.

What's the cutoff date this year?

nvm: found it. "Games eligible for The Game Awards this year must be available for public consumption on or before Friday, November 18, 2022 at 9pm PT. (Similarly, games that were released on or after November 20, 2021 are first eligible for this year’s awards)."

So FH5 was eligible for last year then, just wasn't nominated?

Game released 2 weeks before the cut-off date.

A racer should never be nominated for goty anyway.
(Especially a rehashed one)

Other categories sure.

GOTY should only be awarded to the game I like and on the system I like. It doesn't even matter if my personal GOTY happens to be a rehashed game that I've been playing for over a decade, but now it's more open world.

Elden Ring is awesome.

Sims & racing game never get the recognition in game awards. Its like goalkeeper situation for Ballon d'or.

The forza series not just blow the competitions out of the water, but have the consistency of release on time with the high production quality that is extreme rare in AAA games.

But they are racing games so they don't count.

It is just mind boggling.

Wouldn't it be funny if GT7 gets nominated this year

Ok I was wrong, the cut-off date last year was set for November 19. The voters panel was told they had to submit their picks by November 4th, Forza Horizon 5's early access didn't begin until the 5th.

You knew what I was referring to which proves my point. It's a rehash and should be excluded from any nominations because the guy who makes up the rules to fit his agenda said so.
Should remakes like “the last of us part 1” or “resident evil” be eligible for nomination?

But that guy is a hypocrite also, so Elden Ring counts.
