I can't think of any other sport out there that require the athlete both both brave and fearlessn, especially at 64 degrees and high speeds:

Not even donovan mcnabb and his ignorant comments about racers don't have the bravery to get on a 1000cc 240+ bhp GP prototype.

I've always considered a top athlete for their physical and mental abilities...and for that reason I've always thought tennis players ranked among the best requiring huge amounts of both. Never really put bravery and courage as a heavily into the mix for my definition of athlete but if I did I'd have to agree with where you are going on that thought - those guys are insane.

For me personally, being fearless and brave have to be part of the equation for someone to consider an individual a great athlete.

Anyhow these 2 other video pretty much drive home why motorcycle racers are exceptionally brave athletes:

If anything, what make me so proud of these guys is the fact they are the last real gladiators...even the mainstream is coming to realization;

I think these athletes are pretty fearless:

MotoGP by THQ on the OG Xbox was an absolute blast to play...the games went downhill from there imho never recapturing the fun and ease of high speed cycle racing. They tried to make it more sim and for me the allure was the simple arcade fun of the online play on great fantasy tracks.

@GamingProphet Not sure how athletic they are, but I'll give them credit for their bravery.

I've never really been into any sport that heavily depends on a motor.

Well I guess me flying down a black diamond while skiing is pretty brave and fearless. I'm a top athlete motherfvckers!!

Yeah nerves of steel and athleticism are two different things. Not saying that these guys only have nerves of steel, but they have attributes rather than athleticism.

Take Poker for example. Top Poker players are incredibly skilled, but we wouldn't say they're athletic. Motorcyclists too, skilled without a doubt.

More moto threads? LOL

I can't help the fact that I'm addicted to bikes(Harley being the exception seeing how they are nothing but outdated dinosaurs.....the XR750/XR750 TT being the exception) :)

another amazing vid....these guy should be much be much bigger than NBA or NFL players

Hopefully GP will survive his Superbike phase like some of us who used to own crotch rockets until we had that one final brush with death and sold em.

By the way I thought it was the Motocrossers who were considered on par with other serious athletes due to their endurance and the wear and tear their body takes racing..

Its not just motox'ers, but moto racers off all stripes e.g. rally raiders, motox, road racers, and more importantly endurance riders.

Brave and fearless aren't the first words that come to mind when i think of motorcycle racing. More like stupid and crazy but to each their own. If you can do it, enjoy it, and not get killed then more power to ya.

First two that come to my mind are red and neck.

Its funny how you say that, but when it come pro racers many have accepted the term "crazy" as a badge of honor. If anything to accept such a description is just testament as to how fearless/brave these athletes are and its for that they get the most respect from me.

Overall I just find it disappointing that these guys don't their due as athletes.
