I've always considered a top athlete for their physical and mental abilities...and for that reason I've always thought tennis players ranked among the best requiring huge amounts of both. Never really put bravery and courage as a heavily into the mix for my definition of athlete but if I did I'd have to agree with where you are going on that thought - those guys are insane.
I'm a avid motoboater myself.Next we'll have a thread about motoboats.
More moto threads? LOL
Hopefully GP will survive his Superbike phase like some of us who used to own crotch rockets until we had that one final brush with death and sold em.
By the way I thought it was the Motocrossers who were considered on par with other serious athletes due to their endurance and the wear and tear their body takes racing..
Lets not worship these guys, they are a bunch of phonies.
Not so sure about that, but perception is in the eye of the beholder.there is a difference though, these athletes actually contribute something to the world as oppose to all of these celeberies out there.

First two that come to my mind are red and neck.Brave and fearless aren't the first words that come to mind when i think of motorcycle racing. More like stupid and crazy but to each their own. If you can do it, enjoy it, and not get killed then more power to ya.
