Not surprise at the number at all. This figure have been predicted for a while.

I think the only thing stopping them from selling higher is lack of supplies. PS4 are flying off shelves everywhere.

That is insane. I was thinking it'd be close to 4 million, but it looks a lot more stunning when they actually confirm it.

PS4 god tier launch confirmed.

Good start for Sony and the PS4. Both the X1 and PS4 have almost caught the Wii U in sales in a matter of months. Just amazing.

And the numbers are crazy. MS didn't give a specific number (probably 3.1 or 3.2 million). Combined the PS4 and X1 sold through over 7 million units in a month and a half. Console gaming is back in a big way sales wise.

crazy number, they haven't even released in japan yet which will probably be good for another million at launch.

Nice! I was hoping he or Kaz would announce some numbers. That's impressive. 4 to 3 ratio, pretty much what I expected. Great starts for both consoles. Should be interesting to see how things play out over the next few months, after the initial demand is met.

Wow, that's an impressive number, especially when you consider that you cannot even find PS4's in any stores around me.

Between the One and PS4, it's a good start for this generation.

7 million next gen consoles in no time at all. That's impressive.

Oh give or take 100 or so to count WiiU sales.

Their goal was 5 million by March. I suspect they will reach it.

I expect PS4 to pull away even further, as the problem with Sony, is meeting demand, a different problem from MS, which have supplies stacking up in stores already. Less than 2 month after launch, XBOX one is already Not selling every unit they made. The real work only now begins for them, as most of the hardcore gamer have already bought theirs.

Sony is still in Honeymoon, but I expect similar situation in a few months time, especially if there is still no compelling games.

Imagine if they launched in more nations, some of these xbox on the shelves would have been bought by people. When they finally arrived, they may have already lost sales to Sony.

MS need a price drop, or the big boys like Halo & titanfall prove to be system seller to be on touching distance with Sony's numbers.

Or better, a price drop with Titanfall/halo burden in. I do not foresee any big game from Sony in 2014 that can match MS, which is a positive news for MS.

However, it seems Sony doesn't need exclusive, when 3rd party games looks better.

They will, on the week they launch in Japan. Japanese will always support their own product, if there is a comparable one. Funny Americans do not feel the same.

I guess $ still talks more.

Great numbers for the gaming industry. On a gamer level, more consoles sold means more good games will continue to come out. Don't really care who "wins" and the "winner" won't be decided upon for another 8 years. While those are great numbers, they are no where near the ratio of disparity some hinted at.

Hey....those online 'metrics' had the PS4 at near 9 million already.
LMAO.

Good numbers for Sony though! The console is cheaper and slightly more powerful than the competition. Even with a lack of games it is selling more.

The disparity is actually bigger than I thought it'd be, I'm kind of surprised they were able to make a million plus more machines than MS was let alone sell that many more. I figured they were able to make more machines don't get me wrong but not that many more, 4.2 million compared to 3 million is a significant amount. It's even more impressive when you factor in how hard it is to find a PS4 in many places still while the X1 seems to be readily available in many areas. Of course I'm not saying that means anything long term but it's a good sign for Sony and the PS4 at least in the short term.

Wow, I knew the PS4 would sell like crack to a crackhead but I had no idea it would sell well over 4 million units before years end. :surprise:

Go Sony! :bang:

"No one expected Sony to come through this efficiently and gain a million leads"

"Maybe things have came full circle, this is the Age of the Aquaris

Iphone says hi :p

But damn, congratz to Sony for getting the launch right. None of the f***s ups from last generation's $600 over inflated "media" hub. It's now in MS's time to BRING IT!

And it serves Nintendo well that is getting absolutely destroyed by MS and Sony. With the utter crap of their system they called the wii which was specifically targeted at casual and Nintendo forgot about the gamers in their mad grab for catering to a demographic that would not support it.

Nintendo must be looking at Sony's and MS numbers and just want to cry.

Good to see both doing so well and can people now stop with all the 'cant find said console anywhere' stuff because its clear by these numbers that yes you can find/buy them.
