Any word from any owners? Blue didn't you pick up a pair?
I did.
My impressions so far:
I've tried Battlefield 4, Injustice, and Zen Pinball on PS4, and some music on PS3 (thank you mp3 support).
First and foremost, VSS really sucks. I'm not sure if that's exclusive to this headset, as this is my first experience with the feature, It didn't offer any spatial awareness in BF; the only thing it added was a headache. Everything sounds pushed too far--highs are way too high, bordering on distortion.
To be sure it wasn't BF exclusive, I tried it with ZP and Injustice as well, and it had the same effect. Nothing clean about it.
Turning it off made a real difference. Much cleaner, more depth. The bass boost seemed necessary on the games I tried, though it muffled the sound of music too much on PS3, and I preferred it off.
Do they sound better than my 555s? No. My 555s are open, and there is this expansiveness to the sound I wasn't able to replicate on the Golds. Even music, which I feel seems a bit flat on the 555s compared to games and movies, was still superior than the Golds.
However, not by so much I plan on returning the Golds. I thought they sounded just fine while playing games with VSS off, and bass boost on. Plus, they're wireless, which is what I need, since I can only enjoy my 555s late in the evening, since I have to move a chair close to my receiver. I need something wireless for the couch.
Overall, I think they're pretty good. I haven't tried to chat yet.
