I really don't get what MS is trying to accomplish by stuffing the channels so much, they could have easily added a few more countries to their launch and sold out every console they produced.
I have been saying this for a long time. Having ample supply is good. Having oversupply doesn't make sense, when they could have make % of these units available in more places, & move more sales, & prevent competition from gaining more ground in these places.

do not assume they since have not been sold..
that is a silly thought

UPDATE] Following the publication of this story, Microsoft corporate PR representative David Dennis issued a statement to GameSpot that aims to clear up the discrepancy between Xbox One units shipped vs. sold during the quarter.

"We sold through nearly every unit we could in the holiday period and pulled forward as many units as we could from Q3. However, only some of those shipments were sold into the channel in the final period of the quarter and so there was not time to sell the units through to customers," Dennis said. "These units are now being sold through to customers."

ps Microsoft made money
but did sony?
Sony Corp Ord is expected* to report earnings on 02/06/2014. The report will be for the fiscal Quarter ending Dec 2013. The reported EPS for the same quarter last year was $-0.12.

So essentially add another million to the over 3 million they already sold. So 4 million soldish at $500 a pop. Nice.

Not sure you are trying to be sarcastic or really think they sold 4 millions.

I imagine they are close. I am looking forward to their next sales announcement. I suspect that won't be until maybe March though?

Lol no. The title and article is straight from Gamespot silly.

the amount of misinformation and lack of understanding regarding supply chains and "sales" in this thread is mind numbing...

but hey - lets continue to show the same stupid "omg x1 overstock" pictures from last november in multiple threads, spread FUD, and discuss ad nauseam because the more we talk about it the more it *must* be an issue - right?

meanwhile both next Gen consoles continue to sell at unexpected rates....

Yeah, there's not really any point to this thread other than to stir up trouble. Even MS haters know, deep down that it wasn't like MS shipped them all at once and they just gathered dust, as much as they want it to sound that way.
