Any good recommendations for powerful but not too expensive PC laptops?

Piece it together, I already did research and found you can get a better mobo and that same CPU for about 230 bucks and R9 290X is about 300-330 dollars. So the 3 most expensive parts of your build are about 560 bucks at the most. Do you live near a microcenter?

There's two in my state, why? Will they build for me and I can pick it up when finished? Also, thanks for the help again. I do appreciate it. I'll try and hook you cats up with some steam keys or something when I get the chance.

Then you're in luck, their CPU+mobo combo prices absolutely cannot be beat, I wouldn't go anywhere else for CPU and mobo.

So this is what I ended up getting:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_-

It cost about $1250, and yes, I probably could have gotten it for cheaper if I built my own PCs, but considering I was ready to pay $1500, I feel like I got a good deal here. It will play Witcher 3 at max settings and looks pretty damn cool.

I also got this monitor for $133. It looks fantastic and sits well on my desk.

I'm considering buying a new desk and chair, but the desk isn't exactly needed at the moment. New chair most definitely is.

Welcome back!

I hate to break it to you but it won't play Witcher 3 on max settings with good frame rates. The recommended are below and we all know how recommended specs go....usually you need more horse power than what they recommend to play max settings at good frame rates. Plus according to that link it comes with a 2GB GTX 960, in which will def limit you VRAM wise. But welcome to the master race!

Recommended System Requirements
  • Intel CPU Core i7 3770 3,4 GHz
  • AMD CPU AMD FX-8350 4 GHz
  • Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 770
  • AMD GPU Radeon R9 290
  • RAM 8GB
  • OS 64-bit Windows 7 or 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1)
  • DirectX 11
  • HDD Space 40 GB

I know you're new to the master race game as anyone who knows what they're talking about would not show me that..... GTX 960 is not a fast card compared to the rest of your system and it is actually slower than GTX 770 alot of the time. Plus 2GB of VRAM is extremely limiting.

If you're fine with a mix of max settings and high settings at about 30-40fps, than that's cool. But I wouldn't consider that good...especially for the price you paid for that machine.

That actually sounds awesome to me. Don't really care about 60 fps, but as long as it doesn't run like a bus on a bumpy road, I'm more than good. I'll be able to play W3 and it'll look so damn good. It's all I need.
