It's surprisingly pretty fun. Fantastic graphics as well. Definitely more geared towards kids, but it's a cool game.

almost bought this for my kids yesterday but its to expensive, maybe for Xmas if they still want it
It's my first Skylanders game and I can see how this can end up being super pricey, with the variety of figures available. It's an interesting game concept that encourages the developers to be super creative with their characters.
I'd like to have one of these games one day. My cousin has a collection of these figures from the first game that I might borrow one day. Are the characters universal?
My son has the past 3 Skylander games and Disney Infinity. The Skylander games keep getting better with each edition, he doesn't have Trap Team yet though prolly for Christmas. I like the fact that you can use all of the prior games characters for the current games.
Disney Infinity is cool too, though gear'd towards an older crowd. The toybox editing aspect is surprisingly robust, though not very user friendly for younger kids. We bought him Infinity 2.0 for his B-Day at the end of the month since he loves Marvel super heros. I'll soon see how that game is.

They're compatible going forward, not backwards, you can use the characters from the olders games with the newer versions. Most of the games have challenges areas that are opened by guys from the older games.
It can be pretty expensive, but if you look around there are always buy 1 get 1 free type deals on the characters. Especially if you go to places that you wouldn't expect to have them.
